I would recommend Elderwood to others. So far, we have been pleased with the care and the responsiveness of the staff. Our friend seems content there.

It seems like a nice nursing home. The attitudes of the employees seem generally positive and helpful. However my mom's health took a turn for the worse and she decided to go on hospice. She continues her care at Elderwood, however she has been upgraded from assisted living to skilled nursing.

I would say 5 for everything but food and activities. For those I would rate 4. The activities director at the time did not reach out to my mom when she first moved in so she did not know when things were happening. But other than that the activities were great. The food was very good but sometimes inconsistent with quality. The facility is very clean and well-maintained. The staff are extremely helpful and caring. They went above and beyond to support my mom while she was in transition to death. Most assisted living places will not take hospice patients but Elderwood does which is very helpful. The only caveat is that the family must also help.

The village of Hamburg is terrific. Many eateries, shops and things to do. Very safe and friendly. Yes-I would recommend.. Here and there we had few issues with staff not doing their responsibilities to the fullest but cannot under rate Elderwood's performance based on those few instances.

What I like the most about Elderwood Village is that they have very friendly and are responsive to mom's needs. It is a nice facility and I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

We think the facility is very nice. Our experience the past year has been very good. Overall I think our complaint would be with the day of arrival entry process. It was VERY long, often duplicative of questions and things we'd already gone over with the facility, but the bigger issue, I think, is no one checked back with us to see how it went! Once we were in, that was it! My husband and I both thought that it would have been nice to at least get a phone call asking how everything went, if it was smooth, if we had questions/suggestions. But there was absolutely nothing. We chose Elderwood West Seneca because it was fairly close to where we lived, but also because it was bright and clean, and the rooms weren't worn down and old. The common areas and dining room are very nice, and [name removed], our contact that signed us up, was very helpful and easy to contact.

I needed Respite Care quickly and desperately for my brother. Elderwood was right there to help and made us very comfortable during a very stressful time. Clean, comfortable and amazing staff. Highly recommend them!

The only issue I would mention is that upon acceptance of our friend as a resident, at the last minute we were told we needed to have an internal med dr and someone to manage her psych meds in place before she would be allowed to move in. As she was moving from NJ to Albany NY, it was a scramble to get those in place. Other than that, we have found the staff warm, helpful and interested in our friend's care. We've been very happy with Elderwood.

The staff at Elderwood Village at Colonie stood out most of all. Everyone at Elderwood Village at Colonie is super helpful and friendly.

The value for cost is hard for me to answer I think for the cost there would be more included in the price but I do know they are competitive in pricing. Plus weekends are real boring for them. I feel sorry for people who don't have family. Over all I was happy

As everywhere in the health industry, there is turnover. The management staff has remained the same since my uncle moved there in January and their doors are open and available for concerns and comments. There seems to be a fine mix of men and women that call it their home. The recreation staff often knocks to remind residents about current activities.

Really amazing. Staff has been unbelievably helpful and supportive and my loved one couldn't be happier after the transition. The only thing we can't really comment on is meals and dining, as that is not part of our loved ones plan at the independent living side.

I highly recommend it to other families. They did everything well. Very personable and they know their residents very well. They are helpful, professional, efficient and accommodating.

Such an amazing Activity leader that keeps residents in shape with The Right Moves and other exercise based programs. It’s not easy to please everyone, and they sure do try! A real joy and a delight!!

This is a very nice place. The staff are very good to work with and responding to the family's questions. There was no follow up with the family specifically about the admittance and re-entering the community after rehab with our loved one. It would be nice to see a coordinator call the family to ask follow up questions and be proactive with any changes. There are three meals a day offered, and our loved one seems to enjoy the meals. There are options if the resident doesn't care for the main option available they can choose another item available. The community is friendly and well maintained and clean.
