Merrill Gardens

My father is in the memory care portion of Mission Ridge. They offer a variety of activities. The apartments feel homey, not sterile. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are sweet, kind and patient. They have made a horrible situation easier for my family. My dad’s favorite part is the food. It is great quality and they offer options. I am so grateful we chose Mission Ridge!

Merrill Gardens exceeded our expectations, staff and residents were extremely happy. Hope to make this a long term place to stay

Staff is very responsive, had options of apartment size, meals are good, very clean and well kept. Most importantly mom is treated with respect and everyone is very friendly.

Welcoming staff. Yes I would recommend. Take time to visit and eat in their dining room!

This is a very nice community servicing the elderly population, the rooms and accommodations are very nice, and the people are very pleasant.

Definitely a 5 star rating! I feel that the staff is very well trained as their customer service is excellent. I'm always greeted with a cheerful hello when I visit my sister and offered and snack or beverage. My sister has participates in the exercise classes, walking, bingo and art activities which is beneficial to her well being. She seems very happy with her placement at Merrill Gardens. I would definitely recommend Merrill Gardens when searching for quality care of a family member.

The staff is very friendly, and take time to learn everyone's name. There are many activities spread out through the days, and on site beauticians.

It was clear that the residents and staff were all happy there. It is a light filled place, that smells good and has positive energy

Merrill Gardens Hillsboro is my new home. I toured with the charming [Name Removed] who was so welcoming and informative. She is an asset to the community! Later I met[Name removed], a warm, witty and kind woman who had great tips and resources for me. These two ladies lead an amazing staff who have created a wonderful community environment that is both welcoming and stimulating. I love this place!

Everybody goes above and beyond to make it comfortable for me. Food is excellent. The aneurism of all staff is very professional to make residents feel at home. I like my apartment where I can see the beautiful gardens. I am very pleased that we can do the Sot & Be Fit excercise to stay in shape. The outings that I’ve gone have been great! I am looking forward to the upcoming auction activity

The facility was beautiful and modern. The rooms were a great size. However, it felt sterile and cold. I felt like I was in a fancy hotel instead of a home. In the memory facility, I didn't see any comfy couches or chairs to sit on. It seemed like everyone was in a wheelchair, with just a few in armchairs. As nice as it was, it is not the place for my aunt.

I would give Merrill 5's across the board, excepting #4 and #7 Quality of Care and Activities where we'd have to say N/A because my dad never moved in and do never really experienced those. Everything else was really very good. We did get to sample the food on a visit and my dad just loved it.

I was picked up and returned as I had no ride. I was treated first in the dining room where I met some old friends as I lived at another Merrill Gardens at one time, I enjoyed a nice lunch and then was shown 2 different studio apartments, the Theatre and then had a talk with [Name Removed] about prices, received a nice folder and a special cookie to take back with me. All in all it was a good experience and a very lovely residence. My concern is the distance from my son in Campbell.

The facility and staff are very nice. We had a very enjoyable meal and toured the facility and apartments after. We found Truewood to be a comfortable atmosphere and the residents and staff are friendly.

My cousin who is 86, is getting along very well. She has made a lot of friends and seems happy. Sometimes I have been to lunch there and the food has been very good. Other times it is just OK. The desserts are always good.

Staff is great - energetic, patient, and courteous. Understanding of seniors' needs. They are great at remembering people and giving personal attention. My parents are in a one-bedroom. The bedroom and bath are sufficient. Living room /dining space is tight but workable. It is great to have a full kitchen. The accounting is confusing and food service is perennially unacceptably slow. Food quality is good, but service is poor.

I can only speak about the memory care wing. All of the staff assigned to that wing were fantastic! They all are very kind and have an abundance of patience. [name removed] needed more medical care than what Truwood could give her due to another infection in her one remaining foot. They were very good about keeping us informed of any changes to her meds, or if she cut her arm and required bandages, if she was agitated more than usual and needed me to come calm her down...even the most innocuous thing will trigger a phone call from them. The Director was awesome, the head of Nursing was great!! The Marketing Director and the Assistant were also great...very compassionate and empathetic. They understand how difficult it is for the family and they are always there to listen. Her family and I couldn't have been more pleased with the care she received. The only "cons" I have are that I think for the cost, they should provide toilet paper, the bed pads, and either diapers or something like Depends. These places can get much better pricing when buying in bulk as opposed to me just paying regular retail pricing. My other "cons" are mostly aesthetics and efficiency of the bathroom. She was one of just a few that shared a room and the bathroom. They should add some cabinets to keep their personal items...soap, shampoo, deodorant, lotions towels, etc. That's a minor issue but organization is a big quirk for me and I just don't see it happening much with [name removed]. She would have it all in disarray anyway, just like with her clothes. Other than that, I just love Truwood and can highly recommend it for Memory Care! Oh! And the food is delicious!!

After a 3-day guest stay at Merrill Gardens in Greenville SC, we were impressed with the apartments, common areas and amenities. The facility is nearly new and shows a lot of thought and care in its design and materials. The guest suite was bright and airy, with a full kitchen, washer-dryer, handicap accessible bathroom and attractive finishes. Amenities include a theatre, activity room, fitness room, salon, heated outdoor pool, firepit, small garden and library. It is within walking distance to downtown Greenville, a charming city with shops, restaurants and cultural events. There is a large fitness facility across the road with a gym, aquatics, etc. The staff and residents were friendly and welcoming. We ate in the dining room (all meals are included in the monthly fee) and visited with many residents there. The food was good, if somewhat monotonous (2 specials per day but the remainder of the menu stays the same). We are now wait listed for an apartment.

Facility is nicely appointed. Front desk staff are welcoming and friendly. Staff is responsive and supportive. It is safe. Every effort is made to make one feel at home. Laundry services are very reasonable. The only negative is that they don't have a transport van that is wheelchair accessible

Everyone at Truewood was very helpful. We were able to look at different sized rooms as well as tour the memory unit. The residents looked engaged and the lunch we saw seemed to please the residents. We have made arrangements for {Name Removed] to move in there as soon as she is discharged from the nursing/rehab facility. Thank you for your help in suggesting Truewood.
