Ocean Retreat

The owner, [name removed], is very attentive to the residents ' needs. My mother is pleased with the food and care provided by the staff. The aids are gentle and kind. I would recommend Ocean Retreat to other families.

The food must be very good because my mom has gained weight since she moved in and I had to buy her larger pants. The owner and staff are very caring and accommodating. They work very hard to make the difficult transition as joyful as possible. The home is very clean

Mom is very comfortable and loves the staff. Glad we found this place. Highly recommend and encourage to contact the Administrator/Owner for a tour and consultation. Brings me tremendous comfort that mom is in a safe environment and enjoying the company of other residents and is being taken care of.

We would give Monaco Crest Guest Home 5 stars across the board, except for the activities. They could certainly improve on the activities but also their population is very old and immobile. Still overall score would be a 5. Extremely professional and friendly and communicative. We would 100% recommend this community to other families looking for a community for their loved one.

Our mom was in pretty bad shape when we moved her to Ocean Retreat from another care facility. I believe Ocean Retreat brought mom back to life. On one unannounced visit, I walked in and saw a caregiver kneeling on the floor in front of mom's chair hand feeding her. I had never experienced such loving care from a facility and we beat ourselves up for not moving her to OR sooner. The staff is amazing. I witnessed genuine love and care for my mom starting with the owner. Her staff followed suit as they gently looked after mom. They kept us in the loop on her progress and let us know when she needed something. My sisters and I will forever be grateful to OR for caring for our mom in her final months.

My Family is forever grateful to Monaco Crest and to [names removed] and the other caregivers for the home they provided to our Mom. They created a community...with other families, family of former residents, with their little group of volunteers and regular visitors, with the special events,music, bingo, and the intangibles...[name removed], the administrator, is the very Best!

Located in great place, very roomy, [Removed] the caretaker was very nice, and [Removed] the owner was very nice. Once again, loved the place, but only have a shared bedroom and we were looking for a single.

Very Friendly staff. Our mom seems to like it very much!

They're very good. I'm very happy with the service that they're providing for my mom. The home is immaculate and they're very friendly. I think we're getting a great value. They care is excellent. The act are just okay, but they're much better than the last place my mom was at. I asked them to play her DVDs and her CDs and every time I go over there they are doing that for her. Monaco Crest is very responsive and the owner, Carina, is very hands on.

I am in the process of finding a place for my dad and after my tour of the facility, this could be the place for him. The staff was friendly and engaged with the residents. The inside and out were clean , warm and friendly. Since I'm still looking into the best place I have not made a decision yet but their price is very competitive and since it is literally a half a block from where my dad has been living it seems like the right place.

So the staff at Ocean Retreat are nice people and I appreciate that they cared for my loved one during their last few months. My rating is based on their personal interaction with my loved one more than anything else. They do the basic care services, feed, bath, pills and they do try their best to provide fun activities in-house for their residents. Karaoke, singing, movies, walks and the like help people living their to feel like they are at home more than a sterile hospit al facility. My complaints about this facility are not major but could be if the wrong scenario occurred. They are not diligent to document when residents take medications. though not required by law to document this information I found it troubling when situations arouse that they couldn't give any details even verbally about the recent pills given to my loved one when they needed it for EMT's the home health nurse or even for my personal knowledge. Their communication was lacking in reference to the needs of my loved one. I was there 5 - 7 days a week and I would ask them if I needed to pick anything up and I was always told no, then I would get a call the next day that something was needed immediately so I would leave work get the items and then drop them off to find out that they had been out for a couple days or that they had a couple days worth left before I brought the item that day. If your person needs more direct supervised care I would suggest somewhere else with licensed RN staff and 24 hour care. If they don't need that type of care then Ocean Retreat is a great place. Just be sure to clearly communicate and don't make any assumptions regardless of where you choose. Ask questions until you fully understand and then make informed choices.

The staff at Ocean Retreat are very nice and do the best they can to take care of their residents. The staff not only get to know the personalities of their residents but they also take time to get to know the family as well. The facility is nice and feels more like your own home than a care facility. My dad felt at ease here and was hoping to find a place just like his own home and Ocean retreat was definitely that place for him. The value was a big plus as we had a very limited budget for this expense and Ocean Retreat was exactly what we could afford and well worth the money spent.

I think it would be helpful to know the daily routines and time schedules. I have a contract that I went over but I think it would be helpful to have written down the meals times and the times they do certian activities. The one problem we're having is they put them to bed very early and my mother has to get up and go to the bathroom and she's fallen a couple of times. The falling isn't their fault. She's just unsure on her feet. I've asked if they can get her up before they go to bed so maybe she won't have to get up in the middle of the night. The lady that runs the home encourages me to call anytime with questions or anything and that's really nice because I know she's busy.
