Review for Danbury Westerville-Parkside Village
They have some great people on their staff and a nice facility but it's big and sometimes things fall through the cracks. I would recommend it to others with the caution that it's probably best for lower-needs AL-level seniors. It helps to know the right people to talk to there, but that can take a while to figure out.

An excellent experience
It was much better than the place she was at. The available music classes art classes field trips the amenities more than just a place to stay. Even the nurses were of a higher caliper and it really feels like a home.

Relocation from other memory care facility
My father was transferred by me (his daughter) to a memory unit at Danbury Westerville - Parkside after an unsuccessful stay at a different facility. He did experience relocation stress syndrome for about a month but did eventually "settle in" and became content there. I was always notified about any changes in medication or falls promptly. My only complaint was that there were about three times family members tried to reach the night nurse when my dad called us on the early morning hours and the call went directly to voice mail with no return call or it went to an advertising loop for Danbury facilities. On the plus side, there was always at least one music program each week which he loved.

Danbury Westerville-Parkside Village
Assistant Living (AL)" means exactly that. The Resident must be able to do some things for themselves. Mom was rated by 4 Communities as AL. But she was, and we thought that was clear, that some things she would be unable to do. Such as put her own clothing away, straighten up her room, put items in trash can, put items where they belong, etc. Everyone knew she didn't walk. Quality of Care is a main basis of these communities. She has since been moved to Memory Care. Therefore, we are hoping, and have been assured that as of today, her first day back from hospital in Memory Care, she will get the closes eyes on care that she needs.

our families experience would recommend Danbury and the friendly staff, etc.....
It's a lovely community and we were sad to leave. That was a bumpy start - the Activities Director was out so my aunt was unable to connect with people and become comfortable. And it took a while for anyone to welcome and introduce her to people and the experience.
It's truly and independent living so if you need help and assistance it takes a little longer to arrive that we would have liked.
There are many nice people working and living there and I felt that my aunt was in a safe and caring place. We are grateful:)
I would encourage them to create a WELCOME WAGON committee that is filled with residents and staff to help new people become acclimated to the facility.

Overall, our family's experience has been good. The staff are all caring and kind. Residents meet as a community in the evenings like a traditional home setting.
As with all care facilities, it is imperative to stay in communication with nursing staff to assure specific care is provided.

Pleased Overall
We had a few missteps in the first few weeks with the Aids handling my dad‘s needs consistently and accurately. However, the administrators have been responsive and willing to make adjustments. Overall, my dad loves the place, therefore I’ve been pleased as well.

Danbury Westerville was very accommodating to my parent's situation. They provided excellent support in the transition of my parents from Dayton to Westerville. With their support I was able to coordinate the move from my home in Florida. They provided detailed information about their facility allowing a us to make a decision on what would be best for our parents. Their care givers are excellent and the staff has provided great support as my parents moved into Danbury.

Takes all the resident's need into consideration
Everyone we encountered has been friendly and had all my father's needs covered. From the initial visit, to moving in, everyone was helpful and patient with my father. Making a tough family decision manageable
I firstly would like to thank the loving caring team at A Place For Mom. I would not have gotten through it without them. Our family was in an unexpected situation with no real plans on how to manage it.
Danbury was helpful and compassionate during the whole process. They helped in explaining our options and were upfront about the cost of our level of care needs.
My father's condition degraded quickly and once he was released from the hospital to the Danbury memory care facility, his physical and mental needs were more than they had initially planned on. The Danbury team did a great job of accommodating the unexpected level of care that was required for my father. They helped us every step of the way. Including helping us get set up with Hospice end of life care for my father.
Although my father's stay was only a few short days, I would highly recommend Danbury, the team has been there a long time and it shows. Everyone truly cares about you and your loved one.

Home away from home
Danbury has been a blessing and support since I initially became concerned with my father's memory. My father has a quick decline and they were there to support since I initially started looking for care. My father and myself are treated as family. He has hos own spacious apartment in memory care and everyone knows has name. Staff has been consistent, caring and I get calls with small victories in his daily routines. I feel as though my father is cared for when I cannot be there. I'm forever thankful for.

Top of my list for future memory care option
I was very impressed with the knowledge and 10+ years of seasoned management and nursing staff at Danbury. I visited over 7 communities, and this one is on the top of my list if my mom needs a secured environment down the road. My mom loved gardening, and it is beautifully landscaped and maintained with the input and help of the Executive Director and residents! I am an artist and was thrilled to see a paint and sip party with a large group after 5pm while visiting.
