Good Place, Caring Staff'.
The staff at The Terrace seems caring and they do a good job. I like that there is usually something going on in the main living room area -- music, or an activity -- that gives the place a lively energy.

That would be difficult for me to do. I assisted my brother with the placement of his wife there. This was his decision and what he told me was he liked the vibe. One impressive point was the staff was so friendly and kind. Also most of the staff has been employed for many years.

Started with such promise
Everything was fine until my dad passed. Since then we have been completely ghosted. Not a word of condolence. Nothing. Hard to say much since he was only there for 1 day. I will say that the nurse was very difficult to work with by email, though better by phone or in person. Also dad's button was not working until I called in to find out what was happening.

Positive Experience
The staff are extremely friendly and always very kind when my family comes to visit. They are very helpful and they always want to make sure my dad is well taken care of. You can tell when you walk in that they care deeply about keeping the place warm, inviting and decorated for all different events throughout the year. It is very inclusive and diverse. We looked at several places and the Terrace at Chestnut Hill was the most affordable for our family, but honestly, it was the most warm and welcoming. Other facilities really make you feel like just a number and it is very costly to have to have a family member in a place like this to begin with. It speaks volumes that some of the workers have had their own parents at this facility

A gem! Wonderful care in a small personable facility.
kind and friendly, and are good at their jobs and talk to each other! I feel incredibly lucky to have my dad here. Thank you for helping me find the Terrace at Chestnut Hill! They provide a very high level/amount of care for an Assisted Living place. TCH is small, so doesn't have all the perks of someplace like the Quadrangle but the care is more thorough and careful because it's smaller. The nursing staff is great too. One note I have is that 2 times I've had to make my own arrangements to get my father to Lankenau Hospital. They will take people to Chestnut Hill hospital, but he goes somewhere else. The nurses helped me with this. Also, their memory care facility looked great too.

Review for The Terrace at Chestnut Hill
I would recommend Terrace. They have a friendly staff and keep the lines of communication open. Although they lack the modern furnishings of many assisted living facilities they keep up regularly scheduled activities, the food is decent and the overall environment is suitable, particularly for middle class background elderly. [name removed] the owner does a good job and appears interested in performing well. Some staff are more personable than others but I expect that is true at all such facilities. The cost value is appropriate as well.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Pennsylvania’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Pennsylvania’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored The Terrace at Chestnut Hill 9.3 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies.
