Every resident there is happy and loves the staff. As the caregiver, my issues are supposed to be done twice a week have been times when they haven’t done it once a week. Rooms are supposed to be cleaned once a week bed linens changed, it took three weeks at one point. I think this is a staffing issue. The director just left so hopefully this is a short term problem when you send an email to the appropriate person it does get handled but right now as a caregiver I have to stay on top of it. Other places charge extra for a tray to be brought to the room. My family would recommend The Laurels to others. We have had several family members there through the years. My dad was in respite care there and the room was furnished for him and was very well designed. If this location was closer to my home, he would have stayed there for a good while. There were a few days where she said no one checked on her. The transition to medication management has been rocky due to staffing changes/shortages. Omnicare is handling the medication and they are currently giving her too high of a dosage of blood pressure medication because they are not allowed to cut a pill in half and the medication does not come in the 10mg dosage. I was the one who discovered this and am trying to work it out with Mom's external physician. My mother swears the new cook is putting sugar in everything, I ate with her one evening and while I felt the menu was a bit odd (stew beef with home fries, peppers and onions) I did not have any issue with the taste.
