About the facility
Juniper Village at Forest Hills

With classic charm, Juniper Village at Forest Hills provides a welcoming atmosphere for assisted living and memory care. This recently renovated community in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, features rich hardwood floors, high-end finishes, and inviting common areas. This community offers several financial options, and veterans may be eligible for additional benefits.

Juniper’s innovative Connect4Life program improves health and well-being. The program features on-site services such as therapy, pharmacy, primary care, and more — making Juniper a one-stop-shop for many health care needs. A dedicated medical concierge coordinates services on- and off-site, meaning families don’t need to stress over the details of their loved one’s care. Connect4Life also leads to better outcomes — an independent study confirmed that Juniper residents have lower re-hospitalization rates compared to residents of other senior living communities. Convenient, coordinated care keeps residents healthier and enables them to live more fully.

Memory care is provided in a small house model to foster connection with others while remaining as independent as possible. Activities focus on creativity through art, music, and more. Caregivers seek to understand your loved one’s current capabilities, rather than focus on what they can no longer do.

A GREAT place, but a couple of wrinkles to iron out
Overall, it was a good place. The lack of communication with the Director [name removed] was the biggest problem during our time there. Paying [fee removed] a month should at least entitle the family to be kept in the loop and contacted personally, not in a form letter which didn't even say why the increase in cost and the level of care was necessary. That was VERY disappointing! I talked to her nurses to find out what had changed, but none of them knew why she needed a higher level of care. They then also retroactively raised the cost of her care to charge additional money for the month that had already been paid for! The only other issue we had was one of the female dining room workers scolding us for not seating my mom at her "assigned" table. I was only yelled at one time, but it has happened 2 or 3 times to my sister and her husband. I must say that the Admissions person [name removed], the Head Nurse [name removed] and one of my mom's nurses [name removed]were incredible, extremely kind, extremely caring, extremely compassionate and a pleasure to deal with.

The Right Place for My Brother.
Juniper Village of Forest Hills has proved to be the correct place for my brother to reside at this time. My family and I have had nothing but positive experiences. My brother enjoys his accommodations, food service, daily group activities and the care he has been provided. Every day the entire staff shows friendliness, kindness, and compassion when caring for my brother and the other residents. Overall it has been a positive experience.

Mixed
My loved one was previously a resident at Juniper Village and the experience was okay. Day staff and the food service is very good and attentive. But the night staff I just feel like she had too many problems with. They seemed to be understaffed and they definitely seemed to be complacent about my loved one's safety.

Responsive administration
My mom moved to Juniper Forest Hills just over a year ago. Lots we like about it but the most important thing is that the director stays on top of things, makes changes as needed, and is an effective and responsive communicator. Things run smoothly, with a top notch medical office (I sent a text this morning about restarting eyedrops and had confirmation within the hour) and, more important to my mom, a good variety of activities and lots of special events. She loves the three large windows in her unit. My mom has required extra support this year including hospice and Juniper worked through all of this. I really like that so much is offered on site - hair, nails, podiatry, visiting doctor, pharmacy service, laundry, religious services - limiting the number of trips out of the building. I'm in the building daily and feel that the staff is respectful and tries to do their best meeting the needs of the residents. It is hard work! Juniper was a good decision for us.

Outstanding Support
i moved to Juniper Village at Forest Hills several years ago because it became increasing difficult for me to live alone due to mobility challenges. The care has been excellent. Management is very focused on residents' care, helping residents to live in comfort and dignity. Management encourages residents to socialize and participate in numerous educational and recreational activities. The building is nestled in the woods with a creek. The building is clean, bright and resident-friendly. Management and staff go to great lengths to address residents' unique needs. I am very glad that I moved here. I found a new home.

The best experience I have had.
This is the best experience I have ever had with this type of facility. I have found the staff to be kind and helpful. They address anything that needs to be handled immediately and efficiently. I have met some of the kindest people that work there. They try to find activities that are enjoyable for your loved ones. The dining at this place is great and really makes a big difference. The Staff and Associates go above and beyond!
My Mother has been at Juniper Village at Forest Hills for about a year. She broke her back and was no longer able to live alone. We started searching for a place where she would be happy and still receive the care that she needed. We were so happy to be able to find her an apartment at Juniper. The staff and associates went above and beyond to not only help her recover, but to make her happy and comfortable in her new home. They have many activities daily that keep her busy and socializing. With COVID this has been a very challenging year, but the entire staff has somehow found a way to keep the residence safe and still happy. My family is so grateful to all of these amazing workers. They have given my Mother an extended family, and helped our family through these troubling times.

Fantastic facility; Tremendous leadership and staff
There are so many positive things I can say about Juniper Village at Forest Hills. My mother was there for 2.5 years until her death. I was there virtually daily and got to see firsthand the caring professionalism of the staff. [names removed] set a wonderful tone. I could tell so many stories to highlight my experiences, but I will share just one. The final weekend of my mother’s life, she was in hospice care. The weekend nurse sent by hospice was not up to the standards we had always experienced at Juniper. Did my mother’s care suffer? Absolutely not. She received unbelievable end -of-life care. Again, the caring professionalism demonstrated by [name removed], with [name removed]'s guidance, ensured my mother and our family received the best care possible. I will never forget that and Juniper will always have a special place in my heart.
