My Parents are OK now
You should never ever suggest that place. I can't tell you how many residents complained about that place while my parents were there. My heart goes out to them. I pulled my parents out of there after they promised many times that they could handle the care that my Mom needed. In fact, upon leaving, the director on the other side of the building who managed the memory- care side, said that they do everything that my Mom needed and she didn't understand why the director over the Assisted Living side never collaborated with her. My Sales agent who got us the two-room unit that we wanted had told us that they understood my Mom's needs and that they would provide it even though Assisted Living normally did not. We felt that we were lied to, or money taken, or time wasted... but that wasn't the worst of it. They couldn't even keep their own promises of light "assistance" such as putting clothes away for my Mom, taking them down to meals timely, and keeping their unit clean. They were supposed to clean the unit every week. Twice, it had gone as long as THREE WEEKS. So you know how dirty the floors get after 3 weeks of not being mopped? My father's feet were BLACK. The bathroom was so filthy and unsanitary, I had to go several times to complain about it. My father, who cleans nothing, even broke down and tried to clean his toilet twice. It was awful. This is what we got for over [amount removed] a month??? Now, I have them temporarily in a first floor apartment (an apartment that I was already living). I had to get another apartment on the second floor. Here, I pay a live-in caretaker a salary that includes food, room, and board. She is able to do everything that is required FOR LESS than both apartments and her salary combined. I make all their meals and control their dietary intake so that my Mom and Dad didn't eat hot dogs and hamburgers every day because they said the food was so bad, they just gave up. My Mom now has regular baths and Dad also gets the care he needs. Bayside should not offer so-called assistance. All they want to do is pass out meds, give their residents attitude, barely provide decent food to eat, and clean whenever they could find help. I have been a manager for over 23 years. If you can't keep employees, then go get temps! Do something!!! Don't make promises that you cannot keep. My Sales manager and I had a very good rapport. While he couldn't admit any fault, he just kept apologizing. I wish he'd go work for another location that cares more about residents.

Compassionate Caring Champions Going the Extra Mile
Most of the staff is very nice, the dining hall food is pretty good; great variety and always able to order off of the menu for anything else that you might wanna have. It's not the Taj Mahal, however, the personality of the employees, their attention to the residents supersede a building that looks nice and has no personality. Certainly there are things that they could improve upon and it appears as if under new management they're working on some of these items. My father is in a one bedroom with a screened in patio that is the size of a small one bedroom. He's very happy there. Thank you for checking in. All the best to you and your staff for the work that you do for our less unfortunate population.

Good Choice for our Loved One
It is adequate care for an affordable price. Our loved one seems content. Food is just standard institutional food. Not very creative or visually appealing but satisfactory none the less. Activities can be more creative as well. More exercises classes would be good.

Safe, caring environment
It was a huge relief to me when I moved him here because I knew he would be safe and cared for. Prior to that he was increasingly at risk living on his own and it was very stressful for both of us The staff are a good team partnering with me to make sure all of his needs are met. I find that the staff is very caring – they really get to know the residents. The place isn't fancy, but I always find it to be clean and the residents are well taken care of. My dad doesn't really participate in the social stuff, but I appreciate that he can get his haircut there and that there are medical providers that come. His room size is good – he moved from a double size unit upstairs into memory care about two months ago, and his room is a good size. And it's a private one – no roommates.

Not Bad for the Money
This facility seems to struggle with having/keeping enough staff on hand. Sometimes they are short staff and/or have no shows. Some staff get overwhelmed and overworked. The food selections are sometimes poor, but they try to accommodate as much as they can. I think they have had a few turnovers in the kitchen with the cooks.

Would Not Recommend
Bayside has turned into a nightmare. The room was not cleaned upon move-in, and some fixtures needed repair, even though they had a month before scheduled move-in. None of the staff that was on board when we arrived is there now - turnover is incredible. They charged for services not provided to the tune of 3k in a 6 month period, with no attempt to rectify. He was charged for one month twice and incurred bank fees as a result - not reimbursed. Emails and phone calls go unanswered. Reported to BBB and they neglected to respond to the complaint. No PT options in-house and because they are not paying providers, care levels are decreasing and are unacceptable.

Review for Bayside Terrace
The facility is run down, short staffed, bad food, lack of activities and a depressing environment. The construction work in the Memory care area to fix plumbing leaks has been taking months to fix. It has displaced so many residents from their rooms and dining areas. There is no regard for the horrible living conditions there.

Bayside Terrace is Home
This has been an excellent choice for my loved one. The care that they provide to my family has risen for my loved one. I would recommend the community to others for their loved one, no matter what care level your loved one may need. The communication with the family has been excellent. They are prompt to respond to questions or concerns from the family. The maintenance requests have always been fulfilled quickly. There is compassion, professionalism, and care towards the residents and family. There is housekeeping and laundry provided once a week by the community and this has been excellent. There are three meals served daily to the residents, and there are choices for the residents to choose from. There are weekly outings to restaurants decided by the residents. The transportation is provided for these weekly outings and to Walmart. There has been appropriate staffing. The community made sure that my loved one had all their affairs in order and assisted with this process.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Florida’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Florida’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Bayside Terrace 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
