I didn't choose a 5 for cleanliness just because I often see a full trash container in my fathers' room. And some of the CNA's aren't the most pleasant. Overall though, from the concierge at the front desk to the nurses and activities staff, they are friendly and helpful. My mother is usually attending one activity or another, whether it's an outing to see a local ballet performance, or to do a craft downstairs, or watch a live performer. The residents have access to two floors as well as the patio out back along with the well-groomed grounds. This seems to fall outside what one would typically see at a memory care facility. My father usually stays in his room between meals. We had hoped that my parents could have their rooms combined instead of having two separate rooms. The keys are universal, so normally my father would be able to open my mother's door (she was always losing hers). But I heard that the previous residents family had a different lock placed. So we need to ask staff to open her door. My sister-in-law asked staff to encourage my mother to sleep in her room since she is most likely sleeping much less than my father(he has not been diagnosed with dementia). My parents have had some issues with other residents. Quite a while ago, one of the men was confused and got into my fathers bed at night while my father was sleeping. That didn't go over well with my father. And they have had some things taken from their room by other residents. These issues are common with this population. My mother's wandering had become a big safety issue and now we don't need to worry about that. Both parents have all their needs taken care of and I would highly recommend Artis. It is a safe haven for your loved one whose life will be enriched with engaging activities while ensuring that basic needs/health concerns are ensured.

So far so good
Just want to mention that my loved one has not been in the facility very long so we're still working on a few things. The food rating is based on what my father told me recently but he's used to having my mother cook for him. This facility is very expensive. $[removed]per person for a small room. My loved one was briefly at an assisted living on a respite basis and it was about $[removed] per month for the apartment. My brother and sister-in-law live in the same town as the facility so they are in there quite a bit. I love the fact that my mother has plenty of room to walk around, including the beautiful back yard. Some of the direct care staff don't always seem so friendly or accommodating but you see this in a lot of places. It sounds like my mother is being encouraged more to engage in activities which is great. They had a meeting last month that allowed for a zoom call and the staff there introduced themselves. Attendees could ask questions. This was helpful. My mother has been out on two excursions so far. I'm hoping the staff will include my mother more in different chores like setting the tables, gardening, etc. The other thing is that some residents wander into my loved ones rooms and some clothes have disappeared. I really like the fact that a nurse is on the premises 24/7 and they provide a doctor/NP. It is good to know that my mother is safe and doesn't have the burden of home upkeep.

Dedicated memory care staff at Artis Senior Living
It is a good fit for my loved one. It is a dedicated memory care facility. It has 4 communities, each with 16 rooms, their own dining room and screened in porch. So a fairly large facility but a hometown feel. They have a beautiful outdoor courtyard, tables and walk ways. Overall, we are grateful knowing that safety and health are monitored, and that music, art, books, and socialization is provided daily.

Our family had an in person tour and we almost went there, VERY nice people and staff. If we had to move our loved one that's where we would go. However we just were not all that thrilled with the 2 floor memory care unit.

You have put your own health at risk, protecting and caring for my friend and everyone else entrusted to your care. None of you could ever be appropriately compensated for what you do and the love and care you offer, and I’m sure there are many who are as grateful as I am.
We were both blessed to find Artis and you. You helped me with things you should never have had to deal with, and [name removed]'s time at Artis made her happier than we have seen her in years. Living stress free in a spotless environment gave her the security she needed, and one of her repeated comments to me was that she didn’t have a care in the world, and that was wonderful to hear.
You made it your mission to welcome her and make her feel at home, and the picture you hung and the blanket you gave her were two of her prized treasures. I will miss her tremendously, but have many happy memories, including the Christmas Eve FaceTime, when I was able to watch her happiness when her aide helped her open her gifts.

Made a good choice
We are very impressed with the community and the care. We can't say enough good things. The community is always very clean. We are impressed with how the maintenance staff takes care of the community. Other than that, there have been several other staff like the activities director who go above and beyond. I have never seen any staff act disrespectfully towards the residents, they are always very caring and respectful. They had great activities available and the entertainment is as good as anything you might find outside the community.

Great place for my mom! Dementia has robbed her memory, but she still has tons of energy. Artis provides her with an abundance of space, freedom of movement within a large, secure setting. And she has lots of neighbors like her. This is the place for vital, vibrant people who happen to have dementia. The staff and mgmt are super and they create an environment rich with stimulation and compassion.

Put our minds at ease!
Everything has been going fairly well. It's been kind of a roller coaster with my loved one's health. When we chose this facility, as a family decision, we made the right choice. She is doing well here and we are hoping that this will be a short respite stay so she can come home!

This is an Amazing place its just like at home
I can not say enough good things about Artis Senior Living of Reading they are really great and I can see the difference in my dad. He is so happy here now.
They keep him busy and they treat him like he is at home. The staff is amazing.
They are keeping him busy with activities, all day long, he can go for walks on his own as there is a secured walking path to walk around.
And I feel that he is so safe here!
They have a great Resident doctor program so we don't have to take my dad out for appoints
I would recommend Artis Senior Living of Reading to everyone.

Attentive to my loved one's needs!
It is going very well for my mother at Artis Senior Living, it is a very nice place. In this period of adjustment, I am happy with the fact that my mother is starting to meet new people and find her place in the facility. The staff is very kind and attentive to my mother's needs. I would definitely recommend this facility.

There have been some issues during her first month that have me concerned. In fairness to Artis, issues will be or have been discussed and it may take some additional time to see if this is "the place for Mom".
