Review for Wilshire
You just have to stay on them if you want something done. I wish there were more family activities. Assisted living is just so expensive. I didn't give 5's just because there is always room for improvement.

One year anniversary with Wilshire, best decision for all of us.
Honestly gives my husband & I the idea for ourselves in the next 10yrs. Independent Living has been amazing. We have also visited the AL for possible transitional move for FIL and hear & see only good things there as well. [name removed],is amazing to tour with, ask any & all questions. Make a visit & talk to residents, watch the FB page for activities etc. Residents can be as involved or not as the wish, but will never lack for options. Dr & PT on site visits, haircuts/nails, rides to & from appointments, quick response for any maintenance etc.... It's all good. Even with the strain of changing ownership & staffing changes, Wilshire has proven to be the best decision we could've made as a family. For our peace of mind, and our parents daily life, this community has been wonderful.

New, spacious property
Of course quoted cost is without their evaluation. Their evaluation can add [price removed], as if not a big deal. Place is pretty. And big. Too big for management to supervise, really. They "had" a few great people that almost immediately left after new mgmt. My loved one's room is tiny. Studio, wall type kitchen. Nice large/long bathroom.... the dining room seems nice but my loved one isn't social.

Terrible Management
Sadly, this facility has a big problem in the area of the administrative team. Overall the care staff (caregivers and Med. Techs) were kind and caring. However, the Executive Direct and Wellness director were often unresponsive to messages. When we brought questions or raised concerns, it was met with what our Dad was doing incorrectly in the facility (not pushing his button correctly was the most common). This was simply untrue as myself and his Home Health nurse observed for ourselves on several occasions. The final straw came when the Exec. Dir. told me they could not care for my father any longer. His outside nurse and Home Health nurse both stated that his level of care had not changed in the 6 weeks he had been there. We feel it was simply due to the concerns we raised. I also reached out to the management company via call and email and never received a response.

awful
This property has big problems. Revolving staff and bad management. Very little care of residents. They keep promising better things and fail on so many levels. It's the management and the director.

overall a positive experience, loved ones are adjusting
It's been good overall With the ownership change there have been some hiccups All I keep hearing is: "food supposed to be getting better, but not yet" "seemed to be short staffed" In-laws are slowly adjusting, I keep encouraging to be social and get involved/go down for activities but without a direct invite from another resident I don't know what else to request

I'm really happy with Wilshire
My mother had a stroke in October, which further damaged her memory-she has Alzheimer's. We had a horrible experience with the skilled nursing facility she was sent to after discharge from the hospital. Wilshire was able to assess her, complete paperwork, payment and move in the same day. We ate dinner with her the first night and the meal was restaurant quality. They provide the menu for the next week every Saturday and if the resident doesn't like the meal, they have several options to pick from instead. I have not had issues with her room not being cleaned. They have washing machines available for the residents or family to do their laundry there. I receive texts from care staff on how she is doing and can ask. We did have an issue with the nurse that was recently hired, but they replaced her before I had the chance to talk to them. Anytime I have a question, I'm helped and provided the info I need. I would highly recommend Wilshire to others.

Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Texas’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.
