Happy one and good fit for my sister.
The facility is totally memory care. Her day is filled with things to do. She does not sit in her room all day. There is also a garden area to go out & work in. Hair cuts and nail maintenance is available. Food is good. Dr’s and nurses are available. Visitors are welcome if they are named on list. Outings are also available weather permitting.

We are very happy that we moved our mom from Terra Vista. Terra Vista was terrible. [community removed] place our mom has actually gotten better. She kept getting sick over and over again at Terra vista ending up in the hospital it was so bad. She was falling over and over. Obviously not being watched carefully. She hasn't fallen once since we moved her.
I would never put anyone in that facility. I reported them to the state. U file an incident report. The head nurse waits a few days. Then tells u no one saw anything. Report closed. So our mom has bruises on her, falls and ends up in the er needing stitches but no one saw anything.

We appreciate the opportunity of caring for your mother and being a place to call home for 3 years. We understand that a dementia diagnosis can be a difficult journey and affects the entire family. Even though our goal is to make meaningful moments every day for each resident, it can be painful to see a loved one decline as this unforgiving disease progresses.
While Terra Vista offers multiple nurses in the building 24/7 to oversee the care of residents including medication administration, as well as caregiver staff 24/7 to provide activities of daily living for each resident, one-on-one 24/7 private care can only be provided by an additional private sitter hired by the family. We employ over 110 individuals, and are proud of the accolades we consistently receive from our governing authorities for our impressive staffing and nursing ratios.
Your mother is greatly missed by those who cared for her at Terra Vista and with all our hearts we hope she is transitioning well into her new community.

Our families experience
We are extremely happy with the level of care and attention my dad receives at Terra Vista. He was at another facility prior to Terra Vista, and his physical and mental health really deteriorated. Since moving to Terra Vista, he has made a huge improvement! It makes me so happy and gives me so much peace of mind knowing that he is so well cared for. I highly recommend Terra Vista!!

Terra Vista Oakbrook Terrace
Terra Vista is a definite upgrade not only in physical plant designed specifically for memory care but in stability of personnel employed by Terra Vista as opposed to "agency employees". Our brief experience--only since this January--has been very positive. From administration to nurses to other caregiver staff, I'm comfortable that my wife, the love of my life for over 60 years now, is in caring hands.

Thankful to be at Terra Vista!
The staff at Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace are really wonderful. They are really caring. No matter how tough the circumstance, they go out of their way to help your loved one adjust. They are all really well trained in Memory Care. They do really well at redirecting your loved one if they are tense, anxious, or confused. We had my father at another facility and he was not getting the care that he needed. Due to this, he started self isolating. He would never participate in activities, nor would he eat in the dining room with the other residents. Since moving my father to Terra Vista, he has really adjusted well. Now, he is doing all activities, as well as eating in the dining room. My father has never liked people getting in his personal space. It was a challenge for the staff to help him with toileting and showering. However, they tried many different techniques to get him to come around and now things are going a lot more smoothly. It is a blessing that we brought him to Terra Vista, based on the amazing care that he receives. We would highly recommend Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace to others. It is worth it, for sure!

Specializes in Assisted Living with Memory Care
We selected Terra Vista because they are one of the few places that specializes in Assisted Living with Memory Care for all residents. Everything from the building layout to the experience of the staff supports this type of care. The courtyard is beautiful and provides residents and families with a wonderful setting to visit. Always Happy and Relieved
For anyone having a loved one in long term memory care, it is an anxious time. For my family, that anxiety has been taken away by Terra Vista and their team. Not only am I relieved that my mother is so well taken care of and loved, I am also so happy she and others social needs are addressed. Terra vista has daily activities for residents that I believe go above and beyond. Terra Vista is an Awesome place and Care facility. Staff is attentive to the needs of residence. The facility is always Neat and Clean and never smells of bad orders. My wife has been a resident for about 3 years. In that time I have never had a complaint of her care. Terra Vista always keeps an open line of communication with the family. The lady who oversees Activities is Awesome !!! She is also the Life Enhancement Director. Any concerns I have I contact her and she immediately address's those concerns. I spent 32 years on the Fire Department. During that time I responded to many care facilities for a number of reasons; Fires, Ambulance calls, Fire Prevention Inspections ect.. I have seen very Good and very Bad run facilities which includes Good and Bad resident care.. I rate Terra Vista as an Excellent Care Facility..

Great varied indoor and outdoor enriching activities!
I love getting regular videos and pictures from the various activities my mom does. Providing this service is above and beyond. I love to see her smile and be engaged whether it is exercising, being enriched with art activities, or using the beautiful courtyard garden area which is brimming with flowers and wildlife. Outdoor activities in this "innerwalk" include gardening, picnics, exercise sessions, cookouts, and even music performances! There are field trips such as to Lilacia Park or the petting zoo and special meaningful events for each holiday. When the weather doesn't cooperate there is plenty of fun inside too with exercise sessions, nature museum visits, quilting, and performances to name a few. I loved the performer singing "Papa Loves Mambo". It was so fun to watch with the residents singing & tapping along. I'm grateful that my mom gets to participate in these enriching activities! I can tell a lot of love and effort goes into the planning. Keep up the good work!

[name removed] deserves to be recognized because she does a wonderful job of updating my husband’s participation of all the activities provided by Terra Vista with many photographs and videos. My comments are recognized immediately both day and night. This is especially appreciated at times I am not able to visit my husband when I am
vacationing. I have requested that my husband be included in activities such as bingo painting etc even though he is not able to participate. He especially enjoys the various singers particularly when they are outdoors weather permitting Tuesday’s High Tea offers scrumptious desserts fruits roll ups and beverages suited for everyone’s dietary needs. Day trips are also planned. She makes the special occasions of residents really special by recognizing them. She does a wonderful job of updating our Caremerge app to inform families of residents of their hourly and daily activities. All holidays are recognized with decorations— especially At Christmas.

I’m a Retired R.N. and I Volunteer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I see the interaction with Staff and Residents during Activities and Meal Times & I Love the Compassion, Care and Respect that’s given. Overall a good experience with Terra Vista
Terra Vista is the 3rd facility I have placed my husband in and it is by far the best. The overall cleanliness is fantastic, rooms, hallways, dining rooms are always clean and fresh. The caregivers are just that “caregivers” always showing compassion to the residents, treating them with respect and dignity. Activities are hard since there are different levels of dementia with the residents. But that being said overall activities are geared towards “everyone” to get involved whether it is arts and crafts, exercise or games all are included. Music is brought in on a regular basis which all residents enjoy and are usually included whether singing or playing instruments. Not an easy task to get everyone involved .
Last but not least the food is very good always hot and well prepared.
The overall price is high and hard to manage but I want him to have good care and that’s what he is getting.

My mom is doing so much better at Terra Vista then at Home
My mom was living in her condo for 50 years and was socially isolated. Since coming to Terra Vista, she has become physically stronger and has made numerous friends. The quality of Food and Service Has Declined
Over the last 6 months the quality of food served has declined due to budget cuts and because occupany rate of residents has declined, as double digit rate increase was implemented.
Meals used to be cooked at the location but now are brought from a food vendor and either warmed in the oven or in warm water if in pouches.
Very limited activities, when compared to other memory cares units.
Staff is good, but senior management is lackluster.
