Frequent staff turnover and sometimes not enough staff to respond to residents in a timely manner, but even the new staff are friendly and helpful. Bathrooms could use a more thorough cleaning, but average. Chef prepared meals. The chef meets w each new resident to learn of their preferences. Excellent selection of meals. Dining room is beautiful, like a restaurant w cloth napkins, very nice dinnerware and goblets. No plastic utensils, except when a virus was going around.
When there was a virus going around, everyone was confined to their room and meals were brought to each resident 3 times a day. Music presentations. Movies, day outings, exercise classes, hair salon available certain days, family and friends holiday dinners, crafts, and lectures. Room and board has a yearly rate that increases each year. Level of care is added, 3 levels available depending upon the resident. Level of care is set up w the initial admission, then after 1 month then routinely every 6 months. Level of care will be re-evaluated if the health status of the resident changes for a month or more. I found Story Point to be much more reasonable w pricing and level of care than several I visited. They have extra levels that allow for a 1, 2, or 3 person assist rather than just one person, which was very valuable for my husband, especially as his level of care changed sometimes monthly.
I found Story Point to be the friendliest even w frequent staff changes of a previous assisted living facility. They almost always stop to talk with you, call you by name, even the administrative members. They also cry with you when your loved one passes. The apartments are perfect size w generous sized bathroom. Kitchen has the necessities, sink, cabinets, and refrigerator. No need for an oven or extra appliances as a dishwasher. The building is very modern and exceptionally clean, also always smells nice.

So much better than expected!
Our experience w Story Point has been truly positive. The staff are very friendly, stopping to talk w residents in the hallways, calling them by name, and always asking if there’s anything they can help with. Quick response times w call buttons are appreciated and necessary. Each resident is greeted by the chef. He asks about likes, dislikes, and portion sizes. The food and menu selection is restaurant 5 star.
Story Points is in a wonderful location and the facility itself is beautiful.
[name removed] is knowledgeable about everything or can find out quickly. She is wonderful.
I highly recommend Story Point for assisted living especially after moving my husband in/out of previous facilities that did not meet our expectations or needs. I classify Story Point as an acute care assisted living facility as they are able to care for residents w extra care needs.

If you love your loved one, stay away
This facility has major management issues and appears far more concerned with making money than they do with providing appropriate care. If you have any other options, send your loved one somewhere else. They may live longer because of it.

Review for HarborChase of Shaker Heights
Harbor Chase did not follow through on their promise to care for my dad who was in hospice care. In fact, the young aides (some teenagers) informed me that they were not trained to care for my dad. As a result I had to stay with him all night to make sure that he was properly attended to. It was frustrating to watch the slow response time time when my dad needed help. At times no one showed up for 30 minutes to an hour. By the time they did show up I had already helped my dad to the bathroom and back. The one time that I did leave late in the night, I returned the next day to find that he was not served breakfast. Please do not refer anyone in dire need of immediate care to this facility. I had to leave with my dad in less than a week there. Management was so appalled at their own inept staff that they gave me a full refund. Please do not refer anyone in dire need of care to this facility

Not a good place for memory care
Good food and nice decor do not care for the elderly. The right care does. This community lacks this. If an assisted living community highlights their care with a restaurant and hospitality, that tells you all you need to know.

They only care about money, not people.
This place has had some truly exceptional people working here but unfortunately, they have all left. They treat their staff quite terribly. They bend over backwards to get people to move in and after they do, they no longer care about your concerns. They just seem to be interested in making money. Even when you decide to move out, they don't seem to care because they have already collected a very hefty, non-refundable community fee in addition to your rent. The employees who have left seemed to be tricked into working there just as much as everyone tricked into living there. They outright lie to people to get them in the door. It really is a shame. It seemed like a beautiful place that would add to the beauty of Shaker but it isn't what it seemed. I feel badly for the people still living and working there, although I think it's an entirely new group of employees. They'll surely leave too and then who will take care of all those lovely people?

Very Nice Community!
This community is brand new and absolutely AMAZING! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. There doesnt seem to be the same horrible staffing problems that most facilitles have. We had lunch and it was so good, resturant quality for sure! Everyone needs to tour their loved ones and move them in! We have been so happy here!

Beautiful New Community
HarborChase is a new very active community in Shaker Heights. They have delicious meals, fun activities and amazing staff. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. We toured several places in the area before deciding on HarborChase. Once we walked in the door, I had my mind made up. Everyone we came in contact with, said hello and smiled. It was so genuine. Do yourself a favor and tour this lovely community, you won’t regret it!
