Sad , inhumane .
Experience, if the resident is verbal and can address a complaint, they love to diagnose them with dementia . Resident with no teeth are given hotdogs and are allowed to eat alone in the room , choking hazard, resident who wear diapers are left soiled for more than three hours . Communication with doctors and staff is dangerous sad . Please check your loved one medication because they over medicated. This place is scary because it wears a mask it looks good , it’s hell hole

Mom’s Experiences
My mother was in Providence Rest on 4 different occasions, longest stay bring over 3 months. Each time she had gone there for rehab after hospital stays. She received excellent care & rehab. The majority of staff were very helpful, friendly & caring. They would even stop by just to see how she was feeling. I am very grateful for this nursing home. They brought my mother back to life giving her everything she needed. One stay dad & I actually had Thanksgiving with mom, staff, patients & their families. What a wonderful, fun experience. Yes there were a few staff who weren’t as helpful but that is the norm in any situation. I would say though they could use more staff, those who are there work very hard.

Horrible!
There's not one good thing I can say about this dump. The staff is the worst I've ever encountered. Their communication is nonexistent. Unless you hunt them down, you won't have any idea of what's going on with your loved one. My mom was there for 3 months of rehab after surgery for a broken hip. It was the worst 3 months . They never updated us on anything and when they would finally return your call, they still weren't able to address your concerns. They lie constantly and they're nasty and lazy. We found out that my mother fell last week but instead of telling me this, they claimed that they saw her getting out of her wheelchair and caught her just in time. Well seems that since she"s being discharged tomorrow, they decided to come clean and a nurse called to say that she's all bruised on her left side because she did fall because no one was watching her! But instead of taking care of the problem then, these idiots figure that today, 7 days after, would be a good time to take x-rays and make sure she didn't seriously hurt herself!!! The director of social work is a big joke, loves to talk in circles and is absolutely useless. She has no idea of what"s going on and she will avoid you at all costs. Never heard from a doctor, it's like there wasn't anyone credible in that position. The director himself is so out of the loop I think it's time for him to retire. the entire staff is rude and nasty and apparently get paid to do nothing. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Honestly, my dog could do a better job running this place.

Not pleased
I thought Providence Rest was very clean. They are very understaffed. There were only a handful of CNAs who were pleasant and very helpful. The rest scattered if I asked for help and most of them wouldn't even make eye contact with me. The physical therapists and occupational therapists were all wonderful, helpful, cheerful, encouraging and very nice. The food is horrible. Most patients sit in the "doom and gloom" dining room all day staring out to space. Very depressing and sad. Most of the nurses were helpful and kind. I found my Mom incoherent one day and I asked a nurse what was wrong with her. She rolled her eyes and said my Mom was lazy and wanted to lie in bed all day. Turns out, after another nurse took her blood pressure, my Mom had very, very low blood pressure and she put my Mom in bed in a decline position. I found my Mom dehydrated for the majority of her stay there. The doctor, [Name removed], never spoke to me about my Mom's health condition. I was at the nurses' station several times questioning my Mom's condition. She heard me and never bothered to turn around to discuss anything. She had a very poor bedside manner and every patient concurred with me about it. My Mom collapsed in the toilet a few times and the nurse who was called each time never wanted to call an ambulance for her. Finally, the social service worker who I dealt with, I believe she was the supervisor of the social service department, was a very cold, disinterested woman. Not helpful to me at all. She seemed annoyed when I dealt with her. My Mom was there twice so far and I hope to God that I never have to put her there again.

Got Rehab Here
Mom needed rehab and someone had advised we check out this place and I'm glad we did. Mom got exactly the sort of care she was in need of and due to them, she is a new person. The staff was wonderful very nice and kind and attentive. Mom said she had a great time there especially visiting and talking to the nuns there mom is very religious and that was a big thing for her to have nuns around to talk too.

Frequently Asked Questions
about Providence Rest

A Place for Mom has scored Providence Rest 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
