New Ownership, Still Check Everything
My previous reviews are no longer valid. I just felt the need to inform potential residents. If you are placing your loved one here, keep your eyes open, ask for certifications of those providing meds and question everything even though you may not receive the entire truth. Over the past 4 years including new ownership/same management, I have had to address serious health and safety related violations. There are past alliances between management and a few staff members. Positives under new ownership are renovations to the property, it is clean and the menu has been upgraded. Understand that with any assisted living including this one, there are competing goals between ownership-making as much money as possible and family-ensuring that your loved one is taken care of without being price gouged. It is hard business for the workers who do not get paid enough for their care but with this brings the wrong people from my experience.

I have had an exceptional experience since placing my Mother at North Pines. She has been there since [date removed]. The Owner, Manager, and staff are ALWAYS pleasant, patient and respectful toward Mom, myself and family. I never worry because I know that she is well taken care of both emotionally and physically. I thought it was very nice for Christmas when they had their own dinner, bought presents for the residents, and even sent pictures of the event. Extremely thoughtful staff!!!

Nothing Special
Hi , my Mom was only there for a little less than a month . She went down hill fast and had to go to Gilchrist hospice in Towson , where she substantially passed away . North Pines was OK , however we had a few concerns . First they didn’t seem to have much help at night . The patients seemed to roam around at will . And now after 30 days , [name removed] owes us around 3,000 dollars and won’t return our calls . I guess a lawyer is the next step . We need the money she owes us to settle Moms estate and [name removed] just seems to be avoiding us . Too bad .

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

A Place for Mom has scored North Pines Assisted Living 2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
