Wonderful Community with an Amazing Staff!

I couldn’t be happier with Mustang Creek Estates! My mother is a resident and has been extremely happy there. The staff is absolutely amazing, caring, and attentive, which gives our family so much peace of mind. There are so many wonderful activities and outings available for the residents, keeping them engaged, social, and enjoying life. It’s clear that the team truly cares about the residents and wants them to feel at home. Finding the right place for a loved one is never easy, but Mustang Creek Estates has been such a blessing for our family. I’m so grateful for the care, kindness, and opportunities they provide. I highly recommend Mustang Creek Estates to anyone looking for a welcoming community for their loved one!

Feedback Welcomed, Fast Problem Resolution

It's been a lot of adjustment especially when it comes to medications but they're very responsive to our feedback and they always try to solve problems in a timely manner. Overall experience has been good. We started my MIL in care plus (House B). [name removed] ran a tight ship. She was super kind and made sure to get my MIL more independent. Her staff were very caring. We moved my MIL to basic care (House D), we struggled till [name removed] started managing that house. She's been amazing. She's very caring and has been working on getting the house cleaner. She's been working on getting my MIL more comfortable in her new environment. My MIL room & bathroom are always clean. The kitchen isn't as clean as it should be but it has been addressed and Serena has been working on that. The usable space in the room is about 10'x14' (the window area has a 3'x4' space that we're using for the fridge). I find the room on the smaller size but it does fit a queen size bed, recliner, dresser, 1 small nightstand and a 7.2 cu ft fridge (56" ht, 21.6" width, 21" depth). The bathroom is spacious. The doors are wide to fit a walker.

They were amazing. My Mom was only there for 3 days on hospice and they took such good care of us and her. The staff was super friendly. My only concern during our time there was the time it took to get someone to a room when the call button was pushed. It might not be the best place for someone with immediate care needs. The staff might be cooking or doing meds and won't be available right away.

When we moved my Dad into Mustang Creek, we were in a huge bind. His wife unexpectedly went into the hospital (and subsequently died), so we had to move fast. My Dad could not be left on his own in their apartment. Even though he was walking and could (mostly) bathe, shave, and dress himself - with several gentle reminders - he was stool incontinent and unable to prepare his meals or manage other daily tasks. Mustang Creek was recommended because it fit into my Dad's very limited budget. As his PoA, I knew he would eventually need to access Medicaid, but we had to spend down what funds he had remaining. I shared all of this with Mustang Creek, and they moved heaven and earth to get him into their Flower Mound facility in just 3 days. Dad was initially somewhat resistant, and we were not fully transparent with him when we arrived, but by the next morning when I went back to bring more of his things, the staff had folded him into their community, and he was content from then on out. The aides in his 16-patient co-ed "house" routinely engaged with him, keeping his mind more active with a variety of activities and simply talking and joking with him. He's a very social person, and they simply loved on him and patiently tolerated his constant questions with humor and kindness. They have a big kitchen and dining area in each house. I was there often and saw the fresh good food they cooked there and served at every meal. They did his laundry and kept the house clean and neat. They also kept me apprised of things that cropped up such as falls, colds, and fevers. There was also an issue with a fellow housemate he had mistaken for his wife who had recently died. We had a meeting about it, and Mustang Creek handled it professionally and compassionately. My Dad had 5 wonderful months at Mustang Creek until his funds were depleted, and we were forced to move him to a nursing home that accepted Medicaid. The Mustang Creek staff were genuinely sad to see him leave. The new facility has more limited staff capacity and immediately put him in a wheelchair. He has declined very rapidly, which is not the fault of the facility, just the cruel course of Alzheimer's. I cannot say enough good things about Mustang Creek in Flower Mound, from the management staff to the aides, everyone was focused on caring for my Dad. I have the utmost respect for the people who do this very challenging work, and that group is exceptional. As a referral agency, you work with a variety of families with a variety of needs. I would recommend Mustang Creek in Flower Mound to anyone, regardless of their financial capacity. They took excellent care of my Dad, truly far beyond our expectations, and we will forever be grateful for those 5 months we had with him before he was lost to us into the black hole that is Alzheimer's. If you have any additional questions, I am happy to share. This was a very difficult situation, though quite common for families like ours, AND we had to do everything within a very short period of time, but Mustang Creek smoothed out the process and put us at ease.

Compassionate care

My mom complains less at this facility than she did at the previous two memory care facilities where she lived, and that says a lot. While she still isn't consistently getting baths or help changing clothes as often as I'd like, the overall atmosphere has been much better for her. The facility is divided into seven houses, and residents are placed in the one that best fits their needs. Each house has only a few residents, which allows for a more personal environment. The caregivers are wonderful. Because the facility isn't owned by a large corporation, they are paid better, and I believe that shows in the way they care for the residents. They are kind, patient, and genuinely affectionate with my mom, which gives me peace of mind. The food isn't the best, but I'd rather have caring, compassionate staff than great meals. Knowing my mom is treated with kindness and respect makes a big difference.

MCE staff has been so accommodating and helpful in settling him into his new surroundings. He is engaged and participating in the events throughout the week. He feels welcome and the Exec. Director has gone above and beyond in coordinating his medication through the VA and it is going well thus far. Everyone is so nice. The facility is kept very clean and the other people living in the facility seem happy and engaged. His calendar is always full and equally, he has nice downtime as well. He even commented on how good the food is and that's a huge plus.

The food is not tasty at all. The staff that has been there long term is great. The rest are hit or miss at best. The management staff was caring and accommodating. The overall staffing model is not feasible. There are too many residents per staff, and staff are not adequately trained to handle medical needs.

Pleasant to visit. Residents look well cared for.

I would say it is a nice facility but very costly; as are most. Care staff come and go before I learn their names but a few are still in place longer. The facility appears clean. My husband says the food is bad, but he eats it. I have sampled different things on his plate and it tastes fine to me. All of this i hear about other facilities too, so it seems to be a commonality My husband needs help with everything and I do see care staff tending to his needs when I'm there anyway. Other residents appear to be clean and well tended to. It is troublesome to connect with PA or other medical folks. Especially in person. Or receive a return call. Am generally satisfied with the home and the care but for the financial aspect.
