About the facility
Morada Albuquerque

Morada Albuquerque proudly offers a safe and comfortable assisted living and memory care community for the seniors of New Mexico. Situated in the high desert, Albuquerque is a vibrant city filled with historic and colorful adobe buildings, several cultural centers and museums celebrating the area’s tribal history, and local shops selling Native American handicrafts. It’s best known for its annual International Balloon Fiesta, which takes place during early October.

The Morada Albuquerque is just as lively and colorful as the surrounding city. In their sensational dining area, residents can enjoy gourmet meals with restaurant-style service. The community’s executive chefs prepare made from scratch meals which feature international cuisines and local favorites. If needed, these delicious meals can be modified to suit dietary restrictions and preferences.

Residents are encouraged to connect with each other in the community’s inviting common areas including a fishing pond, putting green, tiki bar, and pet park. Their Celebrations activities program is led by a full-time activities director who plans events like game nights, Sunday brunch outings, movie marathons, and so much more. There’s always something to take part in at Morada Albuquerque!

There are places better than home
Visited several communities and this one had 3 meals a day, staff to assist the residents to meals, to sitting outside, delivering medication. They take residents to appoints, once a week take residents on a bus for an outing. Once a week they wash residents laundry and once a week clean their apartments . And best of all the staff is friendly and helpful and most of the residents are happy!

UNDER STAFFED
Anything that has gone downhill since move-in I believe is because of large turnaround of management and staff...very understaffed...Mom is comfortable there, and I suppose most facilities have the same issues. She is safe, eyes on her, and eats well.

A nice community which has room for improvement
My mom doesn't require physical care, with that said, it's hard to give a better score for number 8. Some days no one checks on her. They have staffing issues in the café. The café for my mom is the hardest part of being a resident due to the food quality and staffing

Great Staff!
This was without question the best location for my mother. The staff was extremely helpful during the evaluation process and was always responsive to all questions..... Unlike other locations. And the facilities are amazing! They are very attentive to my mom's needs and I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Couldn't be happier.

Hospitable, inviting community
Of all the places I visited, they were friendly, inviting and listened to my needs for my mother. Unfortunately my mother has not taken part in any activities and is a very finicky eater.

Staff is fabulous!
5 for all but value. I would rate a 4 because we spend $[fee removed] each month for her to be given 1 pill every night. That seems excessive to me They are all wonderful. Everyone is so nice and helpful. First was the price was very reasonable compared to other places. Second my lives one has her own room and will continue to have her own room even if she has to be moved to the memory care unit in the future. Third she loves the food! Fourth there's plenty of activities to do all day long. No one should ever be bored

Friendly Staff but Company Cuts Corners
- Staff are very nice, friendly, do their best to make residents comfortable and happy - Perpetually understaffed, especially in the kitchen/dining hall, which is probably the explanation for: - Frequent shortages of basics like coffee or sugar - Sometimes long wait times to get served in dining room - Food is often served cold - The transportation they offer is one of the most important services for our family, and it's been reduced to only 3 days a week, with limited hours - with no reduction in cost to us, of course - To our knowledge, no accommodations are made for hard of hearing residents to participate in monthly meetings nor movies- no subtitles, etc. This would seem like something pretty basic in a place where elderly people live.

Poor care understaffed
My mom passed away due to lack of care. She would fall because no one would respond to the button which calls for help. She would still be with me if I had removed her from there. We had the life alert pendant from my moms previous apartment. I kept the pendant because we had paid the 1yr fee. The fire department came 7 times in less than 9 months to pick up my mom. Over 6 times my mom got ahold of me to get her help by calling the medical supervisor. Stay away. Stay far away.

Great location and the apartment was the perfect size
My dad seems to be doing well and engaged in activities. I feel great knowing he is at Morada while I'm in another state. It was easy to move him in. The price was great. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. I picked it because it was located close to the VA and they are able to provide him transportation to/from. The staff was super friendly. The room was a good size with plenty of closet space and cabinets. The facility was very clean. I guess the only issue was the campus seemed quite big and my dad had a difficult time remembering where to go the first few days. But, he was able to learn quickly.

Morada Albuquerque review
I think the staff needs to be more involved and the food needs to be more consistent. Sometimes it's good and fresh but many times it is cold or not fully cooked. Th cost seems to be in line with others in the area. All in all it is fair too good.

Caring staff nice facility
Our mom has been in Morada since May. The facility staff have all been kind, caring and friendly. The facility has a lot of activities on a daily basis, and each meal offers a varied menu. Family is encouraged to partake in meals, activities and spending time with residents. We are very pleased with care and peace of mind Morada has provided us.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know New Mexico’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about New Mexico’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Morada Albuquerque 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
