Overall very happy with the place!

Overall very happy with the place!

Review for Holiday Devonshire Estates
It's a lovely space and landscape and has a lot of small areas to hang out in and lots of activities.
My mother also says that the food is good.

I recently toured Devonshire Estates for my dad. The renovations are beautiful I can only image what it looked like before We are planning a move for early next year Dad it very excited to move!

Great Place!
Devonshire has a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. The food is good and you get good serving size portions. I had fun participating in the activities while I was there.

The residents care about you.
This is a bright and light-filled environment. The residents are very wonderful to be with.
The promised transportation and apartment cleaning are problematic.
I greatly enjoy talking about/discussing the wonders of the world during meals.

Our Experience
We initially had a good experience with Holiday Devonshire Estates. However, in recent months the quality of food has declined, they can't keep employees, and the general manager was let go. My loved one's unit has not been cleaned in three or four weeks. Also, for a place that is specifically for older people, it is lacking in grab bars in the baths and the toilets are quite low. They used to have a bus, but the bus driver quit or was let go. All while jacking up the rent twice in fourteen months. There is also a bear that roams the grounds and steals their bird feeders. My loved one's unit is lovely, but we are looking to move them.

Bait and Switch - Do Not Recommend
Totally misleading. Facilities are broken. Sales price offer move in discount rates and then once in prices sky rocket despite the lease. Food servers withhold from residents and are beyond rude. Servings are disgusting and tiny and if residents are not in seats at start they are denied food. 3 meals per day is part of the price, and it is inedible and when it is edible it is tiny servings. Residents are treated like children. This is NOT as advertised.
There is little to no real entertainment or activities, the recreational room and gym have broken equipment.
More people just leave then complain.

Perhaps just consider Devonshire Estates, its worth a look
The staff is exceptionally nice. Like any large large corporation, it has its issues and usually it takes the toll on middle and lower management. I see that. They try, but their hands are somewhat tied. The issue I have more than anything is that there are people there that belong in supervised care. Their families would rather put them there, out of sight out of mind. And to keep places rented and money coming in, it's accepted. The housekeeping is not what they promise, but I know they are also short of help. I would recommend the place. I think its pricey, but I certainly would recommend it to others.

our families experience
My Father moved from a very active community with every kind of activity to a place where the only real activity was dining together. Devonshire had a very difficult time retaining staff, so over time attitude and cleanliness became issues. There was a day in the summer of '22 when no one was available to serve breakfast so, during COVID, the residents went into the kitchen and served themselves. Most people in the Devonshire community were retired locals and not interested in participating in activities. To make matters worse, The van that was meant to transport community members had been broken for three years or more. My father regretted the move and told me over the summer that he wouldn't survive the winter at Devonshire. He died in September of '22. I'm sorry to say that it was a very bad experience for both my Dad and me.

Great Place, Would Recommend
The meals are accommodating. You can switch out something for another option. She plays bridge with a group. It has taken her time. Housekeeping comes once every other week. They provide transportation to her doctors appointments. The residents ages seem to be 70s-90s. They provide sheets and towels and wash those. They have laundry on site available to do themselves 3pm.

Excellent location. Bosom of the Berkshires. Fresh air and nature at its best. Spacious apartment, Light, and airy. Gracious staff. Catering, alert, and responsive. Although my wife and I have lived at Devonshire Estates for only 2 months, we find life here very comfortable and relaxing. The ambiance is quiet and attractive, the staff is very pleasant and helpful, and the food is tasty and of good variety. I can only imagine life here will get even better once the coronavirus business has ended and normal activities can be resumed.

A friendly place for individuals who don't need heavy duty care.
This community is pretty good value, it is semi-independent living there are not a lot of care services provided, however if you do need more assistance all you have to do is just set that up. They have bingo and music for the residents who want to participate, and the activities director is amazing. The food is about a four out of five stars. From our understanding it is not bad at all, and the food is always served on time. The rooms are great, it is an older place so the apartments are larger than what you would find at a more modern place. Some of the rooms have terraces that you can sit out on, and the place is also nicely landscaped.

I think it's wonderful - you have to be tolerant to the idea of living with other people. Love my apartment. I think I've gotten the best apartment. Love the surrounding area. The woods and nature. Our initial tour was lovely, the ambiance captured me and I knew this was the place I wanted to be. Food is excellent.

Great Place for Dad
This is a great place. They have been doing outdoor concerts during COVID. The residents are starting to get the dining room back for smaller activities.
My loved one is in a studio room/apartment and it is about 400 sq feet. A bathroom and kitchenette are included, along with a balcony.

Dear [name removed]-
I just wanted to send you a quick email to thank you. I will always remember the patience and understanding you showed during our tours and visits at Devonshire Estates. Although I'm sure my mother would have loved the building and apartments that she saw anyway, it was also your personality and the friendly staff that really helped sell her on wanting to live at Devonshire.
At my mother's advanced age of 87, I didn't think the transition from her living in her Florida condominium would be easy, but it turned out to be a snap because she was so looking forward to moving into her new apartment at Devonshire. Whenever anyone asks her how she likes living there her response is an enthusiastic "I love it".
I also wanted to thank you and the staff for keeping an eye on her during her first weeks residing at Devonshire. She has already met some wonderful people and enjoys the activities. Most of all I know that she is surrounded by caring people and a very responsive staff. Considering the restrictions that the virus has placed on all of us, I feel secure in knowing that Devonshire's staff takes the virus seriously and follows safety and health protocols to keep the residents as safe as possible.

Great staff & management but terrible food
Devonshire is under excellent management and is to be commended for their hard work that has prevented Covid for entering the community. The managers and staff do an excellent job. Carmello, Nicki and Deborah are exceptionally devoted and caring. The food, however, is terrible.
