Dad is content and happy
My dad is in this community and they are very attentive and very hands on. He is always out in the open interacting with people and not just sitting in his room. It is working out pretty well. They feed him 3x a day and treat him like royalty. He is very happy and content here and not aski

Place your loved one here, only if its absolutely necessarily
A majority of the staff are decent and friendly, but a couple of them are rude and nasty. The first day I took her there I fed her lunch. I saw that they had healthy portions and she ate a majority of her food. But now, its sometime-y and she often doesn't finish her meals they say. My mom has dementia and has trouble communicating, so she can't tell me what's going on. You'll have to check on them regularly to make sure your loved one is being taken care of. I live far from where she's at right now, so I am unable to visit all the time. If your loved one is extremely verbal, I'd say you could put them there because they can tell you what's going on themselves. Communication between the community and myself is not great, I have to call and ask questions. I think the head nurse tells me what she thinks I want to hear. She tries to be charming and sweet, but some of things she says doesn't sound like my mom. On the other hand, one of the intake workers is more forthcoming with things. If I can call and connect with her, I will, but most times when I call they don't answer. It just rings and rings and goes to voicemail, but the voicemail box is full and you can't leave a message. I'm unsure if I can blame the community for this, but when I took her in she was walking and now they say she can't walk. I brought her in in a wheelchair because it was easier to transport her that way. They say she's never walked for them and suggested that I get her a home health care aide to come into the community. I went out and got an aide who had been calling them to set up an appointment to see my mom, but she didn't receive any answer. She asked me if she should just visit, and I said yes. One of the workers was upset about her visiting, but because she was a medical person they let her in. She wheeled my mom back and tried to get the same workers attention to show her how to get my mom up and out of her chair. The worker responded and said, "I don't need you to teach me anything, I know how to deal with her." There was another instance where she asked the same worker for her assistance with helping my mom and she said, "No I'm busy", and walked away. So because the community was unwilling to help, that limited the healthcare workers ability to enroll my mom in physical therapy. They aren't willing to work with or cooperate with her. I had visited before all of this, but my mom remained in her wheelchair while we talked and played music for her. I was under the impression that she could still walk, because again, she could walk when I moved her in not too long ago. I came back a while later and was checking on her toes, clipped her nails, and moisturized her feet. I got her up to walk her around, but she was like dead weight and wouldn't stand. Once I got her to her feet, she wouldn't step and we were basically dragging her. It wasn't until then that I asked the community what was going on and they said, "she's never walked for us". Aside from communication, I would advise Friendship Care Home to hire more staff because I don't think they have enough people right now.

The nurse and staff seem friendly. I toured mid-day. Most of the residents were sitting in wheel chairs in the common hallways. Only one resident sat int he common area watching television. The main dining area was small and a bit uninviting. They say they don't offer memory care, but the residents all looked spaced out. No one looked happy or engaged. They do have secured windows and doors that alert when opened.

Dad is content and happy
My dad is in this community and they are very attentive and very hands on. He is always out in the open interacting with people and not just sitting in his room. It is working out pretty well. They feed him 3x a day and treat him like royalty. He is very happy and content here and not asking to go home anymore. This is a locked community and I like the fact that they don't have a separate area for the memory care everyone is together. They always engage him in the daily activities someone sent me a picture of him playing the piano which was nice. There are ducks there that the staff will take them out on. It is clean and always smells fresh. I would recommend this community.

Mom was so Happy here
My mom had to stay in this community for 30 days while my brother was out of town. And we were quite impressed at how well they cared for her. The staff was respectful, friendly and helpful. It was only 15 min away from me so I would visit her all the time. The food was good and tasty. It stayed so clean and never smelt like an assisted living place. She loved to go to the Great Room and watch T.V. with everyone. I would recommend this place to anyone. And we gave them a bouquet of flowers for being so helpful.

Friendly Staff!!
I have no complaints of how things has went for my self and loved one for our tour. The staff where on time to our tour and made sure to answer any questions we had for them. The property was clean and they had a lot of great amenities available to all of the residents. It was just not the right fit for my mom in the end decision.

We found a perfect Fit
My dad seems to have found a perfect fit at the Friendship Care Home, as there is only 30 residence and it has a homey feeling to it. Their memory care Unit is great and they are able to address my dad's needs so well. It's clean and my dad's room is well taken care of. The staff is so personable and they appear to be glad to be working there as well. The staff is also easy to communicate with and they are more than willing to answer any and all questions I have about my dad. Even during the transition period when n my father first moved in I could call anytime and they were more than willing to talk with me about how he was adjusting. There is a dining room area where the all enjoy their meals together, they have a menu even choice of beverage. And my dad seems to be eating well. There are activities, exercises, coloring bingo. They also have the option for transportation to doctor appointments, which does cost extra but is a get help to the family. You just meet your loved one at their doctor's office the day of their appointment. I would recommend Friendship Care Home to both my friends and my family without a doubt.

What we needed!!
Everyone seems very happy at the Friendship Care Home. The place is clean and well organized. The staff are all very friendly and take very good care of the residents. The chef is great, he is very experienced and when we first moved my mother in, he came out and introduced himself as well as ask what my mother's food preference and allergies are. My mother loved to sit in the common areas and watch television and interact with the residents there.

I Did Not Like It
I would not go here, it is dirty and awful. i did not like being here. The walls have holes with patches on it. The carpet looked so old. It has not been updated and I would not recommend them. I did not see resident moving around, I think they were in bed.

Working well so far!
Things seem to be doing well with Friendship Care Home, I have heard nothing but positive things about it from my relatives! It is a smaller, residential type community which I think works well for them. They're happy here, and that is what really matters!

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the California regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about California regulations for Assisted Living.
