Carnegie Village
My mother says the residents are really friendly which helped her transition to the community. I find the staff super friendly and I love the grounds and location (right next to a park with a pond) wow!! The price to live there is a bargain as long as you're in independent living. Rent includes 2 meals is a great perk (hope this doesn't go away) and the rooms are spacious. Great place!! I also love the architecture of the buildings!

Our family's experience
Staff were very friendly and caring. Activities were great and the coordinator checked on my mom personally. Dining was adequate, but limited choices. I feel that nursing staff could be a little more involved and it was very difficult to speak with a doctor.

Review for Carnegie Village
Carnegie Village was a very beautiful and clean faculty but not a lot of activities for memory care. Also, the family had to stay on top of any doctor appointment and medication. Not veteran friendly.

Assisted living center a good place to live.
The staff at Carnegie Village is stable they do not use agency. They are caring and attentive to your loved one. The place is large and requires use of an elevator for most folks to get to activities and meals. Overall good programing and solid consistent care at this place.

Disappointing
I have observed good care from CNA’s, front desk, and Charge Nurse who is on call and reachable after hours but am more than disappointed in management above and beyond that level. Any low scores are for upper management.

Highly recommend
In addition to all the categories above, they have OT/PT services available on site as well as medical services, which also come to the village. They have a hair salon there and so many activities and events. It's clean, welcoming and fairly priced. For us, it was a perfect location in proximity to my sister who lives in the area. The facility is beautiful. Her apartment is one of the nicest we saw anywhere! I feel as though Mom is the happiest and most engaged she's been in a long time. It's a small enough community that I feel she's safe, even with early onset dementia ( and she's still in the independent living area). I can't say enough good things and was so pleasantly surprised. I would also love to let you know how pleased we were with A Place for Mom's services. It was so overwhelming to start looking for places for Mom in a new area where no one had lived before. Within 20 minutes of calling, we spoke to an advisor ([name removed]) who asked all the questions about Mom. She then set up tours and was helpful all along the way. It was such a relief to have places to visit that met all the criteria that mom needed, as well as the criteria we needed(close proximity, cost, safety etc). I Can't begin to tell you what a relief it was to have a starting point to focus on. We went to all of the tours. Everything fell into place...We found CV on Tuesday and moved Mom on Friday. Thank you so much for the offered services!

Contact with the Director of Nursing- not possible
My loved one was previously a resident at Carnegie Village and overall the experience was okay. My biggest complaint was that, despite my MANY attempts to meet with the Director of Nursing, I felt that for whatever reason she didn't want to be bothered. On one occasion, I even waited a full hour to see her, but was told that she was too busy. The cleanliness and friendliness were good. The food, activities and value for cost were also good.

Great so far
The overall experience so far has been great. However there are some shortcomings being worked on. I have not eaten many meals here so I really can't comment much on the quality of the food - that will change in the near future. I would tell others looking that if they have a concern then I would urge them to voice it. Everything I brought up has been addressed. Some items they could do and others they couldn't. So far I have been extremely pleased. They are open to questions and feedback. I am extremely happy with my decision to move over here.

A Place For Mom, if you want them to abuse or kill her
Do not send your loved one to than side. My mom was in here for 8 days, and it was 8 days too long. First, one night she was left sitting in her feces for hours. When my dad brought it up he was told that they sometimes get outside staff in on the weekend. Second, when I arrived for the first time, my mom said the staff don't answer the call buttons at night, and when she yells for help she gets yelled at. I actually tested this call button issue out for myself. I did this different days and times of day over the course of my stay when I needed assistance, and I noted what time I called. They ignore calls for help.. This place is hideous. If you love your family member do not send them here. I follow the reviews on this place. Believe what the people are saying about the patients who can’t advocate for themselves. Like any horror movie, beautiful outside, horrific inside.

The main reason that we went with Carnegie Village was because of the value for the money. We also really liked the layout of the facility, it has multiple stories and more space for activities and room to walk around. The grounds and gardens were beautiful as well.

Good experience
We chose Carnegie Village because of the location as well as the value for the money. The apartment sizes are very good. I do know they are having some staffing shortages so they are going through many different cooks which is why the food got a lower score, but it is covid related. Other than that everything has been good and we would recommend them to others looking.

If our loved one can't be home, I wouldn't want her anywhere else than Carnegie Village
One thing we really appreciate about Carnegie Village is that anytime we call there is always someone available to talk to, and if there is no one available we get a call back in a timely manner. They are really great about answering all of our questions, and overall very responsive. Plus we could not beat the valley.

Peace of Mind, Especially During Covid
In general, I think the actual hands-on caregiving is very good. The living environment is very good, better than any I've ever been in. The overall look and feel is inviting, friendly, and cheery, and not depressing. The administrative side of things is a little bit disconnected. They made a few mistakes, and they were not as quick to correct them as I would have liked. But the caregivers are outstanding, especially at giving me feedback about my loved one's care. They personally recognized what appealed to my loved one and provided that type of activity to keep her busy. They catered to her interests and what she likes to do, for instance letting her "help" with little tasks that she enjoys doing, which was impressive to me.

A very good and unique experience!
Our loved one was pretty depressed at first, and after just a week of being at Carnegie Village, he started to make friends and really get to know everyone. They were all very kind to him, and he soon came out of his depression. This community was excellent, the value is tremendous and we also think the activities were good.

Nice size units
Independent Living is very good. The meals program had deteriorated while my in-laws were there. The room sizes and layout of the community are excellent. My in-laws had a good-sized two bedroom two bath unit. The Assisted Living units are a little smaller. They have a nice outdoor space in the back for residents.

Best place in the Kansas City Area
We are so very pleased that A Place for Mom suggested we look into Carnegie Village in Belton, Missouri. It was most definitely the right place for my Mother-in-Law. She has mid stage Alzheimer’s and we couldn’t be happier with her placement. The apartments are spacious, with In-room kitchens and Laundries. The meals are excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and we couldn’t be happier. She tells everyone how safe and secure she feels,

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Missouri’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Missouri’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Carnegie Village 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
