Founder Kathy Member, a lifelong resident of the area and Registered Nurse, recognized the need for a local home care service and established her first agency in 1995. Above the Rest grew out of this commitment to providing health services to the local community, improving the well-being of neighbors and friends. As a family-owned and operated business, we treat our clients with the level of exceptional personalized care that we’d want for our own loved ones.</p> <p>We are set apart from other home care services by providing the expertise of geriatric care managers. With their specialization in senior health, our aging clients can rest assured the care they receive is well-informed, precise, and comprehensive.</p> <p>We’re able to address a range of client needs and levels of care by employing staff across a spectrum of skill sets and certifications. Our staff includes RNs, LPNs, CNAs, CHHAs, and companions, all carefully vetted during our hiring process.</p> <p>In addition to home care, we’re able to fill coverage gaps in schedules at local health facilities by providing flexible staffing to nursing homes, assisted living communities, hospitals, and senior centers.</p> <p>At the start of home care service, a registered nurse consults with clients and their loved ones to assess the type and frequency of care. Then, a caregiver is assigned with the skills and expertise to perform the exact tasks required. Throughout the duration of working with our clients, an RN maintains open communication with the client’s physician and continues to supervise the care to ensure needs are met even as they evolve. We understand the desire to live in your own home as long as possible, so we provide the kind of care to help our clients thrive in life while remaining in their own comfortable, familiar setting.</p> <h3>Personal Services</h3> <p>Whether a client would like a listening ear for a few hours a week or 24 hour live-in supervision, we offer an array of personal services to enrich the lives of those within our care. Our caregivers will safely transport clients around town -- assisting in errands, visiting medical specialists, or just taking a spin for a change of scenery. Light housekeeping is also offered, ensuring a comfortable, tidy home. Preparing nutritious and filling meals three times a day can grow taxing as we age, so our caregivers can grocery shop and cook food to client specifications as well.</p> <h3>Specialty Services</h3> <p>We offer a host of specialty services performed by our qualified, dedicated caregivers. Medication reminders and administering prescriptions ensures consistent, accurate dosages on schedule. Caregivers are trained to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing, while helping clients maintain confidence. After surgery, adjusting to living at home without the supervision of hospital staff can put a lot of pressure on someone in recovery. Our staff will competently follow discharge instructions, relieving the stress of independently managing a care routine. We understand the unique circumstances of clients with Alzheimer’s and other symptoms related to memory loss. Our staff is able to provide a gentle, guiding presence to ease confusion, instilling a sense of security.</p> <h3>Care Types Offered</h3> <p>Above the Rest is considered a <em>home care</em> provider. Home care, or <em>in-home</em> care, is a service which offers compassion and help to seniors who need assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and wish to remain in their homes. Levels of care vary according to need, and can include companionship, meal prep, cleaning, transportation, and help with ADLs like bathing and dressing. Home care aides are trained to understand the nuances of senior care but generally aren’t licensed to provide medical services.</p>
