We looked at five senior living places and chose Walnut Village. It was the only place that people looked up and greeted us as we walked through the facility. We were invited to stay overnight including dinner and breakfast. We were greeted and guided by one of the residents who freely answered our questions and walked us around and through the entire Village. It made our choice clear!

Claremont Manor has been nothing short of life-saving for my family. My 86-year-old father entered the skilled nursing facility after a fall revealed stage 4 prostate cancer. At his prior facility he had lost hope, but here he has regained dignity and strength thanks to the compassionate, attentive care. My mother, now in assisted living, was supported even before she became a resident, which eased a difficult transition. Special thanks to [name removed], who expedited my father’s transfer and knows every patient by name, walking the halls with warmth and professionalism. [name removed]was my first contact—gracious, responsive, and reassuring during a stressful time. [name removed], the nurse who welcomed my father, has shown consistent compassion and skill, helping him feel cared for every day. Claremont Manor is more than a facility; it is a community that truly cares, and I am profoundly grateful.

I cannot say enough how amazing the staff is at WV. From [name removed] in sales, especially, to literally the heads of each department we met. We had a medical setback just days before moving into an apartment which required a change in living situation at the Village, and they made it seamless at a very scary and stressful time. You will not regret this community, so much to offer with the things you expect. It's the things you didn't even know to ask or consider that they also have covered. We researched over 15 communities, visited 4 and the overwhelming choice was still Walnut Village.

Kingsley Manor has been beyond wonderful for my Mom! She had been at one of the large corporate retirement communities for a couple of years. While that experience was decent, it lacked the caring for the residents we hoped for. We then ran into a friend - [name removed] - that had spent decades running senior facilities. [name removed] recommended Kingsley Manor and he put us in touch with [name removed]. [name removed]has been beyond tremendous in every way! She set up a tour. We ate a surprisingly tasty and delicious lunch, and we dined with some residents. Based on the tour, [name removed] excellent and kind guidance and the warmth of the facility, we immediately knew this was the place! We were also impressed that [name removed] and many other staff members have been there for decades - that was a good sign for us that they treat their staff well. Many facilities cannot keep their staff. Kingsley Manor is different which was a deciding factor. [name removed]made the whole moving in process easy .

When my parents were looking for a place to live, I went to Wesley Palms Retirement Community, and I absolutely love it! This place has excellent personnel. A cheery smile welcomed me and I was made to feel extremely comfortable. Clearly, they like what they do. Staff and residents alike are treated like family here. They have a fantastic pool and frequent exercise programs. I get to browse their gift shop as well. This place offers a plethora of activities to keep one busy. For my parents, who are currently undergoing treatment and recovery at [name removed], this is my ideal home.

My mother has been a resident at the Claremont Manor for nearly eight years. She started in independent living, moved to assisted living and recently was moved into memory care. Because I live close by, I visit my mother several times a week, and over all these years, I have gotten to know and been so appreciative of nearly all of the Manor employees I’ve met and worked with. From the kitchen crew (such as [name removed] and [name removed] among others) who always warmly greeted my mother (and all residents) by name and really got to know them, to the friendly and always helpful administrative team, the maintenance crew who’ve responded to countless of our work orders over the years, to the caring, attentive nursing staff in the lodge, and, finally, of course, to the amazing aides, far too many to name. Over the years, I stopped by to see [name removed] (the executive director) or filled out recognition forms a number of times to express my gratitude for one or another of the kind, caring, genuine employee

This community is new, up-to-date, well located, beautifully decorated and with lovely room layouts and decorating options. The costs are about the same as most of the other good retirement communities we've seen. There is more flexibility in the life options available. We liked it very much.

I feel very, very fortunate to have found the Casa De Manana. It is incredibly nice. I'm very comfortable with my parents being there. I trust them and can sleep at night knowing that my parents are safe. The food has been fantastic. The staff has been very accommodating and friendly. Everyone is nice there. The value is excellent. The care services and activities are excellent as well. This is just a very nice place.

The ones we saw, except for Springs at Escondido, were all very good but my wife decided to stay home. I preferred the Casa de Mañana but my wife's first husband, who died of alzheimers, was there in a research program and was over medicated by the V.A. so she has bad memories of La Jolla. Paradise Village was our 2nd choice. Thanks for your help

The grounds are just beautiful and impeccable, it looks like a picture frame with gardens in the center. The staff is very receptive. It's very clean. The staff is good depending on who you talk to. Mostly everyone is very nice, but there have been one or two incidents where, I have been frustrated with the caregiving staff. They are insistant that his medications be taken. He is happy there. The requests that the family makes don't get the response we want, but if he needs anything they help right away. I think it's the best senior center in Los Angeles.

Very different type of facility. HUGE facility that has a lot of outdoor space with all kinds of gardens. The rooms are really giant with crown moldings. The dining room was lovely, and they had a library. It reminded me of very old Hollywood. It was not well suited for my aunt, though. She would have been lost there. It would be very good for someone who is either completely independent, or at a very high level both cognitively and physically. For some of the apartments, walking to the dining room would have been your daily exercise. I myself would have loved to live there. For the right person, it would have been beautiful!

They are very good but they are more expensive. My parents chose it years ago. First they went to the independent living and then the assisted living and then my father went in to the skilled nursing. They have all three levels of care so that is something we really liked about them. They do a good job of staying on top of what the residents need. Sometimes my mother is not satisfied with the food but it's hard to please everyone all the time with the food. I think some of the staff there, a small percentage, need more training on working with the elderly. Most of them are very good though. And that's probably the case for any facility - you can't have 100% good staff. The skilled nursing would not be a 5, maybe a 4 at the most. Sometimes it took a while to get what my father needed whether that was their response time to his call button or actually getting the doctor in to see him.

I'd say it's a good value but not great. I'm from Arizona so everything in California is more expensive. The activities are good. It's right in the middle of La Jolla so it has good access to the city of La Jolla. They have people come in and do music and lots of theme nights, like western night with dancing. They have daily shuttles to town and they give free transportation with in 5 miles, if you need to go to the doctor or the store. It's my step mom that lives there. She likes it. It's a mental transition going form a house where your daily life is spent taking care of things to someplace where everything is taken care of. She's a little critical of the food but it was good in my opinion. They did a great job forcing her to become social. They make you eat with somebody different every day and they have new resident get-togethers so people that are new can bond. It's all about keeping active and social.

The staff is extremely friendly and they have lots of activities. This community seems like it is targeted toward more activities residents. The community is very larger it is sitting on about 44 acres. Assisted living is in a building which is also very larger and has really long hallways. If you wanted to place a loved one here ensure they are very mobile and active.
