Staff is a 10 out of 10, mom is in memory care which they provide music and singling for activities as well as arts and craft. Mom is pretty picking when it comes to food, but they accommodate to what she likes. Her room size is a pretty good. What stood out to us most is the value of this community, would recommend this to family. Staff is very attentive!

The staff is upbeat and caring. They really take time to learn the names of residents and to relate to them on an individual basis. They are happy to answer the questions of family members and to communicate ways to improve the quality of life for the resident. They work hard to engage and to include residents in activities, which are numerous and varied.

I moved into Mennowood the first week of June. In the short time that I have been here I have been pleased with all phases of the community. The food is very good. There are always alternatives to choose if you do not want the planned meal. The dining room is very nice with damask table cloth and napkins. The servers are pleasant. They make an effort to get to know you and your preferences. If you request coffee after the meal just once, they will check with you each time to see if you want it again. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was helped carrying in my boxes on moving day and they helped me with some assembly of my furniture. If you need help moving furniture or maintenance assistance, it is just a phone call away. There is no excuse for being lonesome or bored. There are activities all day long, every day. There are small rooms, a living room, sun porch, etc. to sit and visit with other residents. There are outings planned each week with a wide variety of destinations. It has been a very pleasant move.

It's a really good place. The food is fantastic here, almost like a restaurant. The people are really friendly, and they take really good care of her. Their prices are very reasonable compared to, and in some cases even lower priced, than the other places. They had better feedback, and had won many awards, this was hands down our first choice.

The people there are the nicest group of people that you would ever meet. They are very accommodating. They try hard to make you happy. They do their best on looking after you. If I had anything to say that is not my top rating it would be the food. It's not bad, but it could be better. For the independent living the prices are very reasonable. The people are very caring. Everything I have to say about the Mennowood is very good. They are excellent. (Care Services & Activities are not applicable)

My mother moved in recently. The only apartment we were initially told was available, was very tiny. Then the largest one bedroom became available before she moved, and she was able to get that, at the same price as the smaller unit. When touring, everyone we met told us how much they loved living there. All staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food is great (one thing my mother was looking forward to). When I try to call her, she is often out at some activity. She is now exercising, going to game nights, is in the book club, going to church services, etc. This is great since it keeps her active and engaged, which is very important when you are in your upper 90's. It was the best place she could have moved, especially since her children live out of town. We have peace of mind that her needs are being met and she is happy.

We visited numerous care facilities that had the memory treatment needed for my Mom who has Alzheimer's. Most seemed to be more focused on the business side than the treatment and "care" side. As soon as we entered Tall Oaks at Reston we noticed a difference...lots of staff doing their jobs professionally and happy...very friendly atmosphere. They had 24-hour nurses available in the facility which was not the case in many of the other facilities we visited. Residents were all smiling and engaged in different things going on around the first floor. The Alzheimer's ward was secure and well-staffed...we liked the way the staff gets these folks off of their floor everyday and engaged in activities in other parts of the facility. The food has been exceptional each time we have stayed for a meal...just attended a Holiday Party where the Chef hosted a large buffet that was first-class...drew a huge crowd...I don't think there was an empty seat! Mom's room is comfortable, homey and peaceful. The only hitch we have experienced so far was a little confusion on required paperwork needed prior to move-in (some we were not given until the day of move-in) but we scrambled and completed all of it in time for Mom to settle-in as scheduled. Immediately in the first days, Mom was given several evaluations and entered into various therapies to enhance and lengthen her quality of life. She is not housed in the Alzheimer's ward yet, but it is obvious, Tall Oaks is experienced and well-prepared for this unfortunate and sad disease. Our first month with Tall Oaks has been great and we are confident we chose the right home for Mom.

My mother is happy and comfortable at Chesterbrook Residences. It is a small community with about 100 units so she is getting to know people quickly. The staff all know her and look out for her. I know that she is safe and well cared for. The amentities are fantastic....full service dining room, weekly apartment cleaning, beauty salon, various church services, shuttle to local stores. The only thing that could change would be to have more in house activities. There are several activities scheduled per day, but nothing that my mother really enjoys. More variety would be nice. All in all Chesterbrook is a wonderful value and a great home for older individuals. I expect my mother will be there for many years to come.

This is a lovely facility. It is nicely decorated, very clean and has many amenities for residents. The only problem I see is, like all assisted living facilities, it is more expensive than most seniors, particularly senior women, can afford! I can not express an opinion on quality of care or value, since I am not familiar with those services. I attend community meetings there, and can only comment on that which I have observed.

The staff is just super. They are very caring about the residents and know what they are doing. They keep a close eye on the residents but do not become intrusive. They have activities but could use more variety. Overall the atmosphere is nice and it's really like an apartment complex. The residents seem to be happy here. They have a hairdresser, a bank and a few other things on site so the residents can plan their day and take care of things without feeling like a burden to others. It just feels more like family and a the community has a sense of life.

Food for the most part is good and they always have another menu to order if they don't like the mail meal. The meal supervisors are very good!

The admitting staff was great about moving our family member out of the hospital and into memory care. There was some trouble with communication about what services would be provided once he arrived at Tall Oaks. For example we've had trouble understanding how to obtain some services that seem very basic such as mail delivery. It is our current understanding that we are responsible for picking up mail from the front desk and delivering it to our family member's room. This is a challenge since we live 3000 miles away! We would have appreciated a little more coaching about these things. Although the staff does not initiate contact with us about the care status of our family member, they have been responsive to our concerns once those concerns are brought to their attention. However, we would prefer that there was not as much need to point out that his room needs to be vacuumed, or that his toenails need to be trimmed, etc. The room is comfortable enough and the food is great, so I'd still say it's a good value for the money as long as the residents have an advocate nearby who can check in on them regularly.

Really nice and welcoming dinning area with friendly staff. [name removed] at the front desk is wonderful! The facility is not too big or too small. Found it to be just right. They also have a well maintained large aquarium on the 2nd floor. Nice library and craft room as well

With one or two exceptions, the staff is competent and caring. The work is difficult and the staff are patient and kind. They make an effort to know the residents and make them feel welcome. This is our first experience with assisted living. Tall Oaks is recognized for its family atmosphere and this very much helps the residents to adjust to living there.

The facility is very nice for the price range, most of the staff is quite good and a few are wonderful. But there are some that I wish weren't there. They were adequate, but not careful and caring and kind -- they were rather brusque and a bit sullen. My dad was there for 9 months so it wasn't just a bad day. I appreciate that the nursing home didn't have a lot of turnover and other homes we looked at were understaffed. But I wish all of the staff was great. Probably not very realistic.

The Director, [name removed] (I think that's the spelling, please double check), is great. Caring and approachable. He sets the tone for the facility. If you're looking for a place that has more of a homey feel than a hotel feel, Tall Oaks will not disappoint. The activities may be fine now. Covid was winding down, but was still an issue when my mother was there. The food was very bland and portions were small. I understand food sensitivities, but not everyone has them, so more of a range would be good. Maybe themes, like Mexican night. I don't know if improvements are possible under the circumstances there.
