Positive experience
Springfield Masonic Community is one of the cleanest places I have ever been. I would like for dad to get out and do more, but I know they have had some covid issues with staffing so they have cut back on their normal amount of activities. He has been a apart of the masonic community -he used to volunteer and things like that and so this is the only place he wanted to come when he knew he had to go somewhere. He does have a lot of friends so that has been nice. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Tour experience
I had a great tour experience with Springfield Masonic Community. This was actually my second choice out of the few that I was looking at but they told me I did not make enough to qualify to live there unfortunately.

Good Overall
My experience at Scottish Rite has been good overall. I like that the staff is friendly and responsive and I liked that the community is clean and well-maintained. I think the food is alright, but I would rather cook my own if there was a kitchenette in my room. I feel that the occupational and physical therapies need to be more efficient. Both of them seem a little disorganized. Generally, I think Scottish Rite is a good community, but I would appreciate more independence

Great place for living independently
My mom chose this place after viewing quite a few and loves it! The apartments are big with a lot of room to move around, maybe 800sqft. They’re just magnificent. The staff is wonderful and helpful, the rooms get cleaned about once every other week and the facility is spotless. It is independent living so there’s a lot that’s left up to the residents to get done themselves. I’ve eaten there with mom a couple of times and every time, the food is just great. They have a great big dining room, linen on the tables, and menus that you choose your meals from where they bring it right to you. There are steaks, hamburgers, basically whatever you’d like. It truly is like a five-star restaurant. There’s a community center and they have football parties, they’ve had a luau, and there’s even an exercise facility so there’s always something to do. Everyone that lives there seems to be pretty friendly and welcoming. It certainly isn’t cheap, but for a place of quality that feels like home, it’s worth it. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a facility that’s made for independent living. It’s hands down the nicest place that my mom and I have found and I think she’s very happy here.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Ohio regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Ohio regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Springfield Masonic Community 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
