great care
Our mother was moved into Park Creek approximately 4 years ago because of dementia issues. Diminished memory mostly. The first few weeks were a little difficult for her as can be expected. After a while she accepted Park Creek as her new home. She made new friends, loved the games and entertainment, and looked forward to meal times, 3 times a day plus a snack. The staff was extremely kind and professional. Nursing was great. Our mother remained in pretty good health with the exception of the last month of her life. After 3 weeks of hospital and rehab she started getting feisty which was unlike her. She must have known the time was near and kept saying that she wanted to go “home”, meaning Park Creek. They had a hospital bed brought into her room and their hospice service was everything you could hope for. From the first day of her arriving “home” she was happy and at peace. She passed away a week later. We cannot recommend Park Creek enough. Reasonable rates, good food, great nursing,

They are bought out by new owners and have raised their prices The food is spicey so my mom doesn't like it and news a second choice if don't like the first. Only have a couple activities, but it is nothing that she enjoys.

Our Experience
Staffing is an issue at most places. Park Creek had a great cook, but she left. Staff would come and go. Most of the staff were friendly and did a good job. We wondered if salary was the issue, but don't know for sure. The meals were great with the cook that left, but after she left they were just okay. I would recommend the facility to others.

Would Highly Recommend
Park Creek Retirement is a hidden gem. It's a perfect environment for my loved one. I like everything about it, per my ratings above - the staff, how friendly people are, how clean the facility is. It's a comfortable place to be, and I feel very comfortable that my loved one is in good hands there.

I would recommend them
Our experience was good, the community was clean and the staff was nice. Our loved one seemed to enjoy the food, she never complained and they did offer a variety of activities even though she did not always participate in them. We chose this community because our mother enjoyed it and that was what was most important and the value was good.

Very Satisfied
My mom has been at Park Creek for almost three years now. I have nothing negative to say about it. Most of the residents have severe dementia and are not really aware. Every time I visit they all appear to be very well taken care of. The facilitator can be very abrubt and "matter of fact". She does not pamper the residents and does not sugar coat anything with visitors. But she knows her stuff and makes sure everyone is very well taken care of. The common/dining room is where they encourage the residents to spend their time so that they can socialize and participate in activities. It is a very "homey" atmosphere with a fire place and a lot of comfy seating areas as well as a restaurant style dining room. The individual living spaces are more than adequate. This is a very reasonably priced facility. They do not have all the bells and whistles that some of the $6,000 per month places have, but my mom does not need or want all that. It's a very "comfortable" place that feels like home. The nurses are wonderful and the entire staff gets to know all of the residents and treat them all like family. I have already told my children that I would like to live there when/if the time comes.

Extremely rude manager
The manager there was a witch and the halls are very narrow. We just did not like it at all, every one of my siblings and my mother didn't like it. First of all, there were 5 of us that showed up and she didn't like that, she was probably expecting one or two, so she had me and my sister come into her tiny messy office and the rest of them had to wait in the cramped hallway. She was not friendly at all and it turns out, towards the end of our tour, we ran into a friend of ours that my mom had known for years and she had jsut been there for 2 weeks. She was headed for the cafeteria and we wanted to go and say goodbye and the maanger woman says "we don't allow that, we want them to eat when they're supposed to eat and if you sit down and talk to her it will distract her from eating." We didn't like that at all.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Ohio regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Ohio regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored Park Creek Retirement 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
