About the facility
Oakwood House

Oakwood House is a premier assisted living community in the beautiful town of Marshall, Texas. This small city with historic ties to the railroad is now considered to be the cultural capital of East Texas, and it’s only 45 minutes away from Shreveport, Louisiana. A quiet place, this town has lovely parks and an engaged community. Oak Trail Park is right next to the community and is an ideal spot to take leisurely walks.

The community is set on a groomed plot of land near the main roads, so it won’t take you long to get anywhere. The building is a well-maintained ranch-style construction, which is large enough to accommodate up to 40 residents. Families and seniors can choose the option that works best for them from a variety of floor plans, and the interiors are tastefully decorated to feel both pleasant and familiar.

This community is a good fit for seniors who want to live in a comfortable, social environment and are still moderately active. This is hassle-free living: Laundry, housekeeping, and repairs are addressed by the staff members who are available 24/7 to make sure everything is running smoothly. Seniors receive three healthy, tasty meals a day, and the staff...

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Texas regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Texas regulations for Assisted Living.
