Review for Crimson Village
The whole staff went above and beyond what I could have ever expected. Mom was hesitant about the move but once there, she felt very comfortable and seemed to fit right in. The facilities were very clean and warm and the people extremely knowledgeable, kind, and attentive.

Our families experience
The food is terrible, cold and serves a lot of cold sandwiches at evening meals. The portions are also small. The residents are the best thing about this place, but at the moment I would not recommend this community to others.

Excellent care
I would give all fives. I have been very satisfied with our experience there. The executive director is very hands-on. She knows everyone there and their families. I always feel welcome when I visit. No place is the same as home, but CV has provided good care for my mom.

Review for Crimson Village
Crimson Village promised us we would be expanding our family of caretakers for my mom, and they delivered on their promise. While there are always adjustments when caring for someone with dementia, communication has been open, loving, and clear. The team pays attention and encourages continued loving and learning as we work together to give my mom the best care.

Would not recommend
My loved one slept in a bed with sheets that had obviously been urinated on numerous times/and not changed for days. Floors rarely looked swept. Garbage can always full. A couple of staff members were very nice. The registered nurse accused my aunt of attacking an aid and demanded we take her for psychiatric evaluation. She had no strength and couldn't hold her head up so no way she could have attacked someone. She also said they had a waiting list of people who could pay more than my aunt and that if she wasn't back at Crimson in 24 hours from the psych evaluation she would lose her spot and it bed given to someone else. Everyone sat in a chair in the common area from the time they got up in the morning until bed time, most days no sound on tv...everyone just sat there....and got fussed at if they tried to get up and walk (didn't matter when I was sitting there to witness this). Meals looked really good. Very little activities for the residence. I offered to bring puzzles, coloring books and crafts and was told no. Although she was able to go in at a discounted rate, I don't feel she received the care she should have.

our families experience with a nice community
What we like most about Crimson Village is that they keep me up to date on everything I can stop in any time no need to call and every time I've visited moms room has been very clean. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would definitely recommend this community to other families.

A great place for loved ones
Crimson Village has been a wonderful experience so far and this community does a much better job communicating with our loved one and family then the previous community. The cleanliness is top notch. We have seen some meals and they seem adequate - they don't get just sandwiches they get meals with meat and vegetables There are constant activities going on for the residents, the staff do a great job encouraging the residents to get out of their room and stay engaged.

My tour review
This was a nice community from what I saw. They did not have any variability and the cost was not in the budget for my loved one so we went with another community that worked better for my loved one.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Know Alabama’s regulations for memory care. Each state has its own laws and inspection processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the communities you’re considering. Learn more about Alabama’s regulations for memory care and download the Guide to Senior Living Licensure and Inspection Reports.

  • Tour the location. Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and it helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services. Before committing, make sure that the community offers all the services your loved one needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

A Place for Mom has scored Crimson Village 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.   We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.   Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
