About Elizabeth
Dr. Elizabeth Landsverk is one of fewer than 3,500 practicing geriatricians in the United States and one of the most experienced voices on dementia care in the country.
Dr. Landsverk graduated from Stanford University, trained at Cambridge Hospital, Harvard University, and Mount Sinai Medical School, and has been board-certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and palliative care medicine. She has served as an assistant professor at the University of California, San Francisco, a consultant for the San Francisco Elder Abuse Forensics Center, and a member of the Scientific Panel for the Alzheimer's Association.
In 2005, Dr. Landsverk founded ElderConsult Geriatric Medicine, a house-call practice built on a simple premise: that the most vulnerable elders deserve a doctor who comes to them. Over the course of her career, she has helped more than 20,000 elders navigate the most complex medical and behavioral challenges aging can bring. Through her expertise in managing dementia agitation without sedation, she has helped countless people with dementia who had been deemed "unplaceable" avoid eviction and prolonged hospital stays.
Dr. Landsverk is also the author of "Living in the Moment: A Guide to Overcoming Challenges and Finding Moments of Joy in Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias." It is a plain-spoken guide to every stage of the dementia journey, from the first signs something is wrong through diagnosis, behavioral challenges, caregiver burnout, and end-of-life decisions. The book addresses not only what caregivers will face, but also what the person living with dementia may experience — a perspective few other guides include.
Dr. Landsverk's advice on elder care has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Tampa Bay Times, Today's Geriatric Medicine, The Street, and Grandparents.com, among others. She currently serves as the medical director at Silverado Belmont Hills Memory Care Community and provides telehealth appointments in California through Dr. Liz Geriatrics.
